So i have some recorded (from FreeSat) mkv files which when i open in vlc or other player play in 16:9, but when they play in ErsatzTV the play in 4:3 and look weird, either through the preview option or a client. They seem to all be MPEG2 videos (as they were recorded from TVHeadEnd) I don't mind reencoding some to MPEG4
ErsatzTV Version
v0.8.6-beta-linux-x64
ffmpeg version n6.1.1-152-ge821e6c21d-20240610 Copyright (c) 2000-2023 the FFmpeg developers
built with gcc 13.2.0 (crosstool-NG 1.26.0.65_ecc5e41)
#16:9 or 720w x 576h .ts videos are playing in 4:3 [SOLVED]

when i open the files in handbrake, it says
size: 540x576 storage, 1016x576 display
32:17 pixel aspect ratio
15.88:9 Display ratio
i think thats what is messing it up, but can't seem to figure out what i need to change in the file/metadata
This is nothing to do with ErsatzTV, the files are mkv but the videos are mpeg2videos, converting to more modern h264 fixes all issues.
