I'd like to possibly move my install of ersatz to truenas scale. Given your software can be containerized is this a possible migration? I'm trying to migrate as many services off my server 2012 before upgrading it to a less.... problematic version

If you mean windows to Linux that should be fine for media server libraries; local libraries will not like that as the paths will have changed/no longer be accessible

So question... updated my 2012 R2 to 2016... I start ersatz now and it loads a new database alltogether. I noticed that the data is in my windows.old so I was able to snag a copy of my old database. I was able to view its contents using db browser for sqlite. Is there any way I can at a bare minimum salvage my channel lineup and possibly my smart searches or will i need to rebuild it from the ground up?

if you upgraded the same machine, you would just need to restore the ersatztv appdata (config) folder in its entirety from wherever the original user is. kind of surprised it ended up under the windows folder
but i guess i haven't specifically tried running on windows server
you can find the config folder by opening the logs folder (using tray icon) and going up one

C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local is where it was hiding
When you do an in place upgrade it does a "windows.old"
so C:\Windows.old\users\appdata\etc\etc
Ok so update... i restored the file and attempted to launch it. The application launches fine but the listener port doesn't show up (ran a netstat -a) and exported to text to validate

Correct the entire folder
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\ersatztv
C:\Windows.old\Users\anonymous.domain.000\AppData\Local\ersatztv

Whats bizarre is it is referencing a D:\ drive... i don't have a D drive

giving it a quick gander to see if everything is here
channels are there ffmpeg profiles are there... tv show library says 78 items but is lagging something fierce
movies says 1-100 of 1360 movies same deal lagging
collections and smart collections look to be there
just had to go into ersatz and reenable the 2 libraries for sync... i suspect that will likely fix it

Ok so looks like the inaccurate count of tv/movies is still there. Starting to think I may need to just start fresh as much as it pains me to say that and use the old database as a reference point for what needs to be rebuilt.... thoughts?
I suspect I could probably do an export/import into the database for the smart filters and same with the tv channels
And if so... what is safe to export guessing smart list would be

had no choice... it nuked all installed software
suppose i could also recover the plex appdata and maybe force the server to come back alive
considering plex is operating at dogshit speeds itself that might not be a bad idea
going to try that now actually
getting sonarr/radarr repointed is a far easier prospect than redoing ersatz

So plex is recovered 100% (major sigh of relief there as that fixed my watched status)... now i'm getting ersatz back and we'll see if it behaves properly

So fun story lol identical copy of plex identical copy of ersatz both recovered... ersatz is giving an incorrect movie count yet again... is there a way i can purge that table and force it to rediscover the movies and tv shows?

you can do a deep scan which will scan literally everything in the library
including unchanged items

so update.... numbers didn't deviate even after full scan. My suspicion is somewhere in the database it's holding onto old metadata. Any other ideas? I'm willing to keep troubleshooting this but starting to wonder if a fresh start is for the best or not

why do you think the numbers are wrong?
also - if you remove content from plex you will need to also remove it from etv's trash page

There was nothing in trash and because Plex gives a completely different number
So if ersatz is pulling data from plex it should only be referencing data accordingly i would think

do the etv logs show anything when you scan?

I think I was able to correct it.... killed the etv folder in appdata and forced db to recreate... then canibilized parts of the old db and imported into the new... data is there numbers look right will report back my findings later when i have more time to sink into it
i can confirm its back up and running... have to manually rebuild the schedules (they were imported just have to associate the shows with them) and the playouts and back in business i already have 4-5 channels up of my 22
