#Collections are empty after migrating to new machine

I recently copied over all my settings / metadata, etc from MacOS to Ubuntu. Everything seemingly copied over fine, except all of my collections that I've created are now empty. Is there an easy way I can recover them? I imagine it has sometime to do with file pathing, but I'm not quite sure. I spent a looooootttt of time setting up these collections for over 70 channels and would like to avoid having to set them all up again if possible. TV shows/Movies are synced from Plex and I can see them in their respective sections. Thanks!

What did you do to copy? If you use Plex libraries you shouldn't have to care about paths

I saved a copy of the /config folder and then migrated that over to the new machine

Are the collections manual collections or smart collections?

#

If smart collections, I would stop etv, delete the sesrch-index config subfolder, then start etv again. It will take a few minutes to rebuild the index but that might fix them

They are manual collections

This is the exact error I'm seeing: [17:28:36 ERR] Unable to rebuild playout; Collection Bobs Burgers has no valid items!

how do the health checks look on the etv home page (click the logo in the top left to return to the home page)

Everything looks good there, there are some missing files but those are local files for some concerts that I've added and is to be expected, nothing regarding collections or TV shows. I can see the shows under TV Shows, there's just nothing in the collections themselves.

did you have to reconnect plex or did it immediately connect on the new machine? the only reason manual collections would have items missing is if the items were removed from the db for some reason

I was moving my plex server over at the same time and renamed it to something else, the old server / server name is disconnected. Could that be the cause?

If it's a new Plex install, yes, all of the media items are tied to the old Plex install. If the Plex IDs for everything are the same, then maybe we can tweak a backup from macos to use the new server. If Plex has new libraries with new IDs then it would have to be a manual process which might not be better than recreating the collections

#

Smart collections can work better because they are independent of media source. You can also make trakt lists to sync with etv which would work from any Plex server

Nice! How would I go about looking up the show IDs in the DB vs what's on plex to see if they're the same? What am I looking for in the DB to swap out with the new Plex server ID?

Would I do this with SQL queries or something? I'm fairly comfortable with SQL btw.

Will definitely use Smart collections from here on out
