There has been many times when ive bought 9999 of something like colored blocks for runecrafting or gleamstone when i was doing geode, or even ores when crafting certain things en mass like bombs, i think a better fix would be to make some items easier to get so that they are not worth 3000 in the marketplace each or make the way of getting them more enjoyable so that people are incentavised to farm rather than buy

As someone who uses the MP frequently, I don't think this is a good idea in the slightest. What platform are you on?

The marketplace's prices are a mess due to the dupe that lasted a few months last year. It caused extreme inflation for every item in the mp that is slowly (very very slowly) lowering. the max size of stacks have nothing to do with their prices being that high.
As Supreme said, being able to buy mats in stacks of 9999 is useful for builders and gardeners (primal blocks / glim / various other stuff) so lowering the max amount listed wont be useful to a majority of players.
