I spent 15 minutes typing out the idea and it was deleted

but basically, it boils down to this:

the Elo ranking system, the system used in most PvP multiplayer games (think Rocket League, 99% of FPSs available, Clash Royale, etc) would work here too

Trophies could serve as the points to such a ranking system, ranging from Rookie to Bronze to Silver to Gold (all of these having 4-5 subdivisions) all the way up to Top Driver

players would only be able to matchmake with players of both similar RQ and rank

#

so, a player with 465RQ with a rank of Silver II would only matchmake with players of a rank of Silver III, Silver II and Silver I

#

and players would need to get a very high trophy count, say, 100 thousand, to achieve the Top Driver rank

#

and they'd only matchmake other Top Driver-rank people

#

players would also get scaling rewards based on their ranks every month, with their trophy counts falling back a slight amount to give players a more urgent sense of progression

and, while it seems like it would be a system that benefits whales at first

#

it actually would keep things leveled out almost perfectly

because

  1. slowplayers with low RQ would likely have high ranks, so they'd only be matchmaked with other players with similar slowplaying abilities, meaning they'd stay in their own lane and have more engaging and tough events
#
  1. whales within Top Driver ranks would also stay within their own lane, meaning they'd be forced to face each other and stay out of lower ranks' businesses, allowing other players to get better prizes too

I personally believe this is the way to fix TD matchmaking

because it would keep everyone within their own deserved lanes

of course, it's always open for tweaks and suggestions from others

You just can’t have whales 100% against other whales. Not in a game where the rich have to get richer in order to justify paying what they do

That would also put casual spenders (10% or less what a typical whale spends in a month) in with those guys. I don’t want worse rewards just because other people choose not to spend. There has to be incentive to keep spending or the games revenue tanks

It’s a players choices to spend or not and if I’m going to put the time and money into it I’m not going to do it for last tier

Not against balancing more than it is but at some point you cant just have new players playing for the best prizes amongst themselves.

I understand everything written here, but in fact, higher RQ doesn’t mean you don’t have a chance. Lower RQs can have a better hand garage than a higher RQ, it depends on what requirements they ask to play. I’ve seen ridiculous hands when I don’t have any chance, and I play for more than 3 years now with more than 1900 cars in my garage
