is there a server to discuss or is there only the one for Ruff?

We're going to rename the Ruff Discord

#

can you make a channel for discussion about UV?

What I can do is de-prioritize getting mousebender.resolve out as stable and focus on getting a PoC lock file instead

that would be fantastic, yes I think that is the best path. sorry for the slight change of course (I didn't know)

Looks like uv did what I was planning to support in mousebender (e.g. "uv supports alternate resolution strategies"), so that part of my work is a bit less useful now ๐Ÿ˜…

it's a bummer developing in secrecy, it has the potential to waste the time of a bunch of volunteers like us

#

it's possible Hatch would still use mousebender, honestly whatever is able to lock for arbitrary platforms first ๐Ÿ™‚

#

I must say I am quite surprised that this was developed when the folks at prefix.dev had already released rip for a while

May have been in development in parallel? Or perhaps rip doesn't work the way Astral wants it to to meet their goals? ๐Ÿคท Either way, I think this shows there's interest in shaking up the installer space.

And I'm still going to use mousebender to develop a PoC locker and installer for proposing lock files again. I think I have a general design that will work and assuage the "sdists are people too!" group ๐Ÿ˜‰
