I remember reading about this. As a software maintainer, I can certainly sympathise with feeling overwhelmed even without extra bug reports coming in and without having to backport patches to older releases.

I think developer wishes like his should be therefore respected: “please in order to respect my time: either retain that warning or don’t package my software”

If people don’t even have the decency to respect a simple wish like that, I understand that people go away from free software licenses just to be able to force people to be decent and to respect their time.
