#a way to have any level be playable by 2 to 3 people.

You could glitch it in the past. I know that especially with the new update it bricks. So I'm glad it got fixed. But I wish there was a way to have this and it would automatically detect 2 players so it would respawn items that are needed. Or a way to drop items so they could switch maybe if needed.

I know that these issues will probably fixed in a later time. Especially if there is online play. There was a lot of fun trying to do runs of single player stuff and using mechanics like throwing the characters around to not brick things. It forced new ways of gameplay.

yea i gotcha

#

its a pretty big design challenge

if the "give item to all players" toggle is ever added, it could be on by default in 1p dungeons.

#

youd also have to disable WR time recording obviously

tawdry plaza
#

no, thats not a solution because singleplayer dungeons should be playable by 2 and 3 players in coop without the creator thinking about it at all

?????

tawdry plaza
#

i.e. every single dungeon rn thats 1-player should be playable in coop

#

which obviously wont work

#

because you sequence break in many cases

#

the creator wouldnt have to do anything though? it would be a setting the game would toggle upon loading in more than the rec players

#

a creator cant account for three players throwing bombs all at the same time

tawdry plaza
#

just giving items to all players doesnt fix nearly enough edge cases and sequence breaks

#

thats the problem im talking about

#

which is why OPs idea probably will never happen

lusty knoll
#

but only one player getting an item causes other issues; for example if a feather is mandatory only one player can jump the gaps

tawdry plaza
#

yea i know

#

thats what im saying

#

it'd have to be so only P1 can get items and all players teleport to P1 when P1 goes through a door

#

and P2 and P3 can only kill small enemies or sm

#

which would not be fun

#

i tried designing it a long time ago

#

didnt work

lusty knoll
#

only "solution" i can really think of is when you select a dungeon with too many players, it gives you a disclaimer
"this dungeon was not designed with this number of players and may not function correctly; you also wont be able to record your clear time. proceed?"

#

and then have it if an item gets picked up, everyone gets it

tawdry plaza
#

yea a disclaimer at your own risk would certainly work too

#

but a bit of a bandaid imo

lusty knoll
#

yeah, but a baindaid is probably the best you can do
