I had mentioned on steam that I'd rather have the previous functionality of chests, where they replace the current item you're holding but you cant put that item in the chest. Some of my maps require the chest to be open to trigger doors. So if there were a case where I want to take a player's bombs away and make them use a boomerang, for example, they'd be stuck in that room. Having thought about it, I have two suggestions instead. Making it an option for a chest to be able to have an item placed in it, and having the solid shapes on key items' properties. So you can set an item out on the ground, like a lantern, and when you pick it up it triggers an action, like opening a door.

One workaround, at least for now, is to require the current item be placed on a pedestal to open the way forward.
It hadnt occurred to me that that was possible. i'll have to play around with that. as of right now, ive replaced the chests and doors with a narrow walk way forcing the player to touch the item. not ideal for puzzles.
Yeah you can have an empty pedestal with a shape to trigger the new item chest spawning. Then put a shape on the chest to block access to the pedestal.
Thats a good idea
ahh!
yea, the "previous" function was actually a bug
before that, it had functioned like it does now
i do see your point tho
I must have started playing when the bug began, i thought it was just how they functioned
