Religion & Belief – Discord TOS Enforcement

Dear vcMods and members

This is your official guide for handling religion or belief-related discussions in religious VCs, in accordance with Discord’s Terms of Service and our internal moderation standards.

🔒 Discord TOS Reminder

Religion and belief are protected characteristics. This means users cannot be harassed, mocked, or threatened for their:
Religion or Non-religious beliefs

🚫 Violations – What IS a TOS Breach

These behaviors are not allowed and are subject to moderation:

❌ Examples:

1.“Your prophet was a fraud and a pedophile — cope harder.”
→ Directly insults a sacred figure with inflammatory language. Clearly meant to provoke, not discuss.

“I piss on your god, he’s fake anyway.”
→ Deliberate desecration of a deity. Intent is open mockery, not critique.

“You bow to a rock five times a day, like a mindless slave.”
→ Misrepresents a ritual in a dehumanizing way. Framed to belittle, not understand.

“Saints are just dead losers you all worship like idiots.”
→ Insults both the figures and the believers. Pure ridicule disguised as opinion.

“Which one of your 50 gods is real today?”
→ Sarcastic jab at polytheism. Not a question, just mockery.

These qualify as:
-Hate speech
-Incitement to violence
-Dehumanizing generalizations
-Targeted harassment

✅ NOT Violations – What IS Allowed

Criticism or discussion of religion is allowed when it's respectful and non-targeted.

✅ Examples:

-“I disagree with the concept of divine punishment.”
-“Some parts of the Bible are hard to accept morally.”
-“Why do Muslims pray five times a day?”
-“I left religion because I didn’t find it convincing.”
-“I think religious institutions have done harm historically, but not all believers are bad.”

Allowed if:
▪︎Spoken respectfully
▪︎Discussed in good faith
▪︎Not targeting individuals or groups
