when i try to go onto survivor from the main menu of dbd it kicks me off survivor back into the main menu with a message "an unknown error occured"

it's normal, you can play as killer and use displayK's console mod to add bots

The Private Server is partially down. We have to wait for Arch to fix it, but he's working on it

Are we able to go into custom games with just ourselves? I'm getting unknown error but I dont know if thats normal at the moment for custom games

It is. You can only access a private match by loading in from the killer lobby. You also need the console mod and 5.7.2, and there's no bots.

If you want to play custom games with bots, or want to play on 5.6.2, you'll have to wait a little bit.

thanks for saying, but i have a question, since the private server is getting fixed, does that mean update, which means it will work with current version or update and only work w versions up until 5.7.2?

From what we can assume, yeah. Although we have zero clue what's going on in the background, so I can't guarantee anything.
