A brand new endgame way to experience Voidigo whilst maintaining the roguelite aspects we all know and love! In this mode, you return to one of the many uncorrupted beacons tasked to defend the beacon before the Void corrupts the beacon yet again. This is an endless mode that acts as a defence roguelite. The player will have to endure 10 waves in one area before being taken to the Antivoid and then the next world and so on.

#

Beacon Zones
The run takes place in an area that is 3 times as large as a normal beacon area but the player won't be able to leave. Each wave, Void Portals will spawn around the zone which will let otherworldly grunts enter and come to attack the player and beacon, the enemies that come will scale with the current wave. Once the player has defeated all of the enemies, there will be a small grace period for the player to explore the zone, use interactables and enter Jhase's Shop (which can all be found scattered around the same area). In this mode, walls can only be destroyed by enemies to prevent performance issues or exploiting wall mechanics.

Challenge Waves
On the third, sixth and ninth wave, the player will be given two choices of challenges to pick from that will each give rewards (similar to challenge rooms), the challenges will affect the whole area so be careful which one you pick as it can drastically change the way things will go. On the tenth wave, a boss will spawn alongside the grunts and the wave will be endless until the boss has been defeated, the ninth wave grace period will also have a chance at spawning the void challenge to give you the option of fighting two for a nice bonus. Once all 10 waves have been cleared, the World End portal will spawn alongside the Run End portal and the player can either proceed when ready or return for to secure some bonus metacurrency.

#

Rewards
First of all, failing a beacon will end the run and you will lose 50% of earnt metacurrency gained during the run, it'll be advised to enter the Run End Portal if you feel it might be too risky to go on. There'll be multiple achievements for getting to waves 10, 30 and 50 as well as an achievement for keeping a beacon over 75% health for 10 waves. Successfully securing a beacon for 10 waves will earn you Antivoid Fragments, a new form of metacurrency used to unlock new stuff in your camp for you to play with. What is this used for you may ask? Here's what you can do with these new fragments.

🔹 Reduce your loop minigame lost items by 1 per spend
🔹 Start regular runs with a random uncommon weapon and powerup
🔹 Use them as a possible corrupted trade cost
🔹 Unlock Costumes In The Lockers
🔹 Expand the Camp with fields and forests
🔹 Reroll pet part choices

This is a really cool concept, though I don't know how to feel about a new metacurrency that has an impact during your run.

Fair point! any ideas for alternative uses for the currencies?

Not exactly, maybe skins? idk

Yeah I was gonna put down costume unlocks but that seems like a stretch, one can dream though!

I've once requested something similar, I sooooo want a mode like this!

#

I am curious, though... how exactly would enemies be able to breach beacon health?

the way im thinking it would work is that in this mode beacons will be an entity that would auto aggro all enemies that spawn and enemies will be able to attack the beacon when in range the same way they would with a player. bosses will be the only ones to not go after beacons and will only target the player

I think because of certain enemy attacks, it might be too hard to defend the beacon from attacks, right? For instance, the porkos with the porko machine gun, whatever that was called...

#

I think the beacon could have a radius? If enemies occupy this space, the beacon's health would be drained.

#

Perhaps bosses wouldn't even be able to drain health at all!

#

Boss waves require you to multi-task between taking out hordes of like you said, infinite enemies, all while having to beat the boss/bosses

#

This was I think bosses that are massively destructive such as Keglar wouldn't be a problem, and neither will enemies with multiple projectiles/spammy projectiles?

#

Actually, I think because of the scale of the room you mentioned, enemies directly attacking the beacon could be fine too

deft plaza
#

Yeah the beacon would have a huge health pool so the player would be able to fight away from the beacon for a while without too much risk. Agreed with bosses not being able to damage the beacon too. Beacon powerups and companions would be big ways to give the player more freedom, Jhase would probably guarantee at least one of these items to help. During boss waves it will be infinite while the boss lives but very little enemies would spawn at a time in this wave
