Hey all! So I just finished the Gen 3 Living Dex on Emerald the other day (Used FR/LG/R/E/XD/Colo) transferring them up to SoulSilver right now. Then gonna finish Platinum with my main team and get some ribbons, and finish the Gen 4 Dex. Anybody playing any retro games or doing a living dex?

oh wow! Yeah i replayed every generation up to gen 5 over this year, and I have completed the national dex in every gen except for gen 5 on those revisits
living dexes are so much fun bc you learn a lot of small optimizations every time you do one

I like to keep my generation living dexes intact
i went as far as completing the gen 6 nat dex with only gen 6 games to accomplish that

it's not as bad as you'd think but it's very tedious
i've also looked into the theoretical minimum amount of games required for each generation's nat dex

I want this living dex all as early as possible.
For instance I'm not using hgss for lugia and hooh

you only need emerald, xd, leafgreen, and either firered or colo to complete the nat dex requirements
in gen 3
the catch is that it requires 7 total playthroughs

I've been gathering retro games but recently modded my Wii to play XD and Colo and got an original GC to GBA link cable so I plan to work on my emerald living dex soon too, probably going to leave it on the game though since you can only transfer so many through pal park
