I would like to be able to create note templates that contain some prefilled information.

#

For example: a daily journal entry that automatically populates today's date in the Note name

I would also like this, so that my journaling can automatically have headings without adding certain things every time.

Absolutely. And have them accessible by clicking/long tapping New Note button.

Actually i support this but the templates should not be created by notesnook, but by ourselves. I have a specific format i like for my note entries so i can create my own template, and then insert it into any note with a keyboard shortcut. Lets say i want to have a date + time + separator line in bold and italics for example, and this is the title style i like. Would be good to be able to insert it every day without having to do everything manually every time

To keep Notesnook simple and easy to use, this is one of the must-have features. Custom template is super helpful for note-taking.

And I prefer a custom type field for each note and template, for quick searching by user's intentions. For instance, users can define various templates such as Form, Theory, Story, Snippet, etc. Then, users can quickly search based on types. That can help shorten note naming and improve note organization.

In real cases, user doesn't need to name their notes like "Type Name - Notes Name" or use notebook name as type name.

The best practice is always to use notebook names for topics and sub-topics in different areas, and type is always pointing to the direct type of a note. It would be much more intuitive to search notes based on "Topic > Type" e.g. (Project A > Tasks / Project B > Stakeholders / Event > Contact)

I'm a recent refugee from Evernote. There's a lot of things I like about Evernote, and one of the features I used the most was templates. (I didn't like the lax posture on privacy, the lack of a Linux client and most recently, doubling their fees to include bullshit AI features that I don't want or need.) Having said that, I'm impressed with how far Notesnook has come. One glaring omission is the lack of templates.

I've set up a Templates folder in my NN. I have to go through a laborious process of copy and paste every time I need to start a note from template (which I do most of the time). It would be nice if NN recognised the templates that I've put in the Templates folder (or other simple method), so that every time I open a fresh note I have the simple option of clicking on my predefined template that I need to use. So user defined templates is a must-have feature that NN needs. Keep up the great work with the development! 👍 nice

Also, thought I'd mention I use Notion also. At the moment I use it for one specific task: to create outlines and text for my podcasts. To greatly increase my productivity in this task I use detailed templates. I'd like to import this into NN also, but no way would I do this until NN has templates. Notion templates are even better than Evernote templates. And using templates is one of the best ways to improve productivity and save time in one's workflow.

I totally agree with this. This is one of the hiccups I’ve encountered while using Notesnook. While you can duplicate a note, it becomes quite laborious, especially if your notes are organized into different subfolders.

I actually tried moving my journaling to Notesnook, but every time I had to duplicate a template and then move it to the correct folder, it felt like I was doing more work setting things up than actually journaling. Because of that, I decided to go back to Diarium for now.

Hopefully this gets implemented in the future. Having a simple button to create a note from a template would make the workflow much smoother.
