Thinking of upgrading camera for my Astrophotography setup, currently I have a Canon 250d on a Quattro 150p+coma corrector, and was looking at getting the ZWO 585MC Pro. Does anybody have any experience with this astro camera / think id be better off with something else around the same price range? Some people have suggested the 533MC Pro to me too. I want to stick with ZWO because I was thinking of getting an ASIAIR setup so I can do things remotely when its cold out, Cheers! astroThumbsUp

If you want the same thing, get a stellavita, otherwise a minipc to remote into also works.

As for a camera, the Uranus-C Pro comes to mind

I do notice a common trend that beginners associate remote imaging exclusively with ASIair, I wonder why?

I think the thing about ASIAIR is that its plug and play and people think that they dont have the skill or knowledge (or even the effort) to set up their own MicroPC even though its really not that hard

#

But would you still say that ZWO cameras on their own are worth it? i’m stuck between the 585 and 533 due to their FOV differences but also their prices (£600 ish vs £850 ish) and I will also have a look at the Uranus C Pro as it seems pretty good

If you want the simplest experience in setting up. Get an asiair. There are benefits to the asiair.

Of course the downside is being locked into the ecosystem of ZWO. If you are fine with that, the asiair might be worth it.

Stellavita is like an asiair but more janky and less plug in play, better than a mini pc though.

If you dont mind tinkering a mini pc is a good option. NINA will allow for the most flexibility.

Ultimately though, the sensor is up to you. Nobody can tell you which is right for you

You could always go straight to mono. The mini cam 8 is cheap and a 585 sensor. I think like $1,000.

Touptek has some good mono 585 and 533 bundles too

# regal patio I prefer the 533 sensor. I love my ZWO 533mc pro. Huge upgrade from a DSLR. If ...

Ive just had a look around and have come across this with the 533 sensor, there arent many youtube videos about it but on forums people say that player one is good quality. The Ares-C Pro https://altairastro.com/player-one-ares-c-pro-imx533-usb30-colour-cooled-camera-14802-p.asp?srsltid=AfmBOoraATb0t6HEDRXlKF4ogL2j4_-FyJErKHlfgp4suovHnDSQr0AS

I would honestly go into an aps-c color (imx571 sensor, no matter which brand) or the minicam8 (which sacrifices fov in exchange of giving you cheap Mono access). Both are excellent.

As for the asiair or stellavita. Stellavita from what I heard is still even after the upgrade a bit of a nightmare. Asiair only works with ZWO hardware (although if you know how to hack your way around, it can be made to work with anything in reality, I have two Asiair minis working with non zwo rigs, but you have to sit down and code).

Waiting for it to come back on AltairAstro

I got a player one cam, The usb-c passthrough is a nice feature to have. I use it to control an astroasis focuser through it and cools relatively quick. I got the 571 poseidon c but the 585 has it too
