#Bored... reprocessed M101 from last year

I think it's both
Show me yours @trim meteor / @dim palm
this is not a competition. Astrophotography is art and an artist needs criticism to improve. Asking us about our M101 images now makes no sense. no one has to prove anything to anyone here, but we are able to criticize and that's okay, isn't it?
that is correct... so show me how you did it (I hate my pic, it sucks)
My M101 image is the first astro image i've ever taken. Only 2h of exposure time, no H-alpha, no calibration frames whatsoever and taken with a 85mm refractor. It doesnt even come close to your result to say at least
... I am not precious about my images... and weirdly everyone on here who knows me, knows that I effing hate galaxy pics...
... we know what good pictures are here. Critique is fine... just have the collateral
same goes for @trim meteor
wat
show us your M101
never did it lol
... have you shot anything?
yes
is it good?
I don't think it's necessary to have photographed the same object to the same extent to judge whether an image had a little too much BXT or NXT.
you’re typing out a whole book bru
... well you wouldn't cos you chimed in without thinking it though
I cannot even remember how many nights / hours went into this rubbish image... (was taken back in april through may last year)
i just said that you had too much blurx/noisex
simple feedback
i could do more if you want
... I am tempted to ask
but 1 iteration of BlurX and / or NoiseX is not what made the image suck
A person is always harder on themselves than others. In no world is that a rubbish image
Gotta be honest. I quite like the colors. HA regions are popping nicely. Yea yea background is a bit blue and purple and yea yea the core details are a bit overdone but for something that you probably didn't enjoy processing its pretty nice.
I agree. Little things aside, the overall impression is quite nice
No, it is utter crap... it's a widefield shot at 550mm
I was looking for way more from the surounding area, but that sucked just as badly, so cropped in on the stoopid galaxy
Funnily, the Ha stuff is just down to the hours spent... it's LRGB albeit that I may have had the Antlia R+ filter then, cannot remember exactly
Oh, I had done the blue BG correction earlier... I just posted the wrong image 🤣 🤣 🤣
I am not a galaxy shooter... I just don't find them fun lol
I kinda shoot everything but somehow the galaxy images of mine usually turn out better than expected
I am a dusty / ldn sorta guy... basically I like long LRGB projects ... planning a Shark offensive currently, dual scope at 200mm
I mean longest projects I did were 11h orion and 17h on the leo triplet but my camera make those look like half of that...
... my southern arc from back yard sucks... 3h of orion tops before the neighbours tree gets in the way... they actually offered to cut it back for me (we get on very well) but I couldn't let them... it's a nice tree lol
damn thats actually very nice of them but also very nice of you turning that down.
this is the latest.. (havent posted it yet) its 9h
ahhh, that is looking very nice... I am guessing by the blueness of the stars that you aren't filtered ... but I may be wrong
markarian's chain et al yaddah... I'd have to go to alternative site to get hours in... problem there is that I f I did that... I'd end up taking dark stuff again (I've missed the witch for the 4th year now)
Nope.. stock canon eos 750d and no filters
ah the chain.. got that one too lol
Excellent... natural stars, it's da ting!
Yeaaa thats why im a big fan of star clusters
you can always find a way to make use of your gear
I was just outside Brisbane in October last year... and shot LMC, Nikon d810, filterless at 200mm...
I got decent detail on the Tarantula (albeit tiny!) but the stars were banging... in the end, it was a pic of stars with some colour behind it haha
still cool tbh
would love to see the southern sky once
this little guy is my fave... stuck out there on his own... just wanting a friend haha!
This is very cool, quite a deep image!
true! where is that xDD
ty!!
I´m glad to see you turn to the light! 🙂
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo.... was just a reprocess blown up crop from last year.... I will never be turned!!!!!
Oh, darn.. Well I guess the dark nebulae needs talented ppl too...
... next project is literally dust and no more... well, some stars I think lol
