I'm excited to announce a new discovery in Carina, Williams-Jones-1. This new object spans roughly 6.2 x 3.5 arcmins, and the discovery is the result of around 120 hours of exposure time from Steve Jones @rain orchid, Sean Makin @shrewd urchin, and Kevin Morefield @brisk oxide. While the nature is unconfirmed, it is likely either a planetary nebula or ISM feature.

The final image is a result of 30 hours of imaging done by Kevin using with his CDK17 in Chile.

I hope you like this new discovery!

since this got so many "apod" reactions i submitted it to apodkekw

#

i highly doubt they will take it, apods seem very random and inconsistent recently, and the only discovery i remember seeing was the OIII Arc one

#

but who knows...
