#CYCK Secondary spider GSO
81 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I don’t have gso newt, but I do have a stellalyra which is basically a copy of the gso. All the holes line up for the 8” f/4 model on the tube. For the secondary the screws are closer together but still work. The hole on the center needs to be enlarged a little to fit the stock screw.
The outside diameter of the spider is too big though. I had to shave it down a lot to get it to fit. It was not easy without a lathe, it literally took me hours of grinding it down with a power drill and a file
damn thank you
so cyck is the only cnc spider available? arent out there any gso compatible ones
no problem, there's a couple made by starizona or backyard universe, i think they're the same ones as the pictures they used are the same
150mm aperture:

200mm aperture:

they're much more expensive though as that's why i decided to modify the cyck one lol
Thanks alot!
well cyck one is like 58€ for me
starizona one tho
169
brub
i wonder why its alot more expensive than skywatcher one
its like 100€ more expensive
i cannot find it in Eu stores
should have gotten a skywatcher 6 inch newt instead of a gso
Ah yea I really wish cyck made one for gso newts, I don’t know why the others are so much more expensive lol
The starizona/backyard universe or cyck?
I got the cyck one on eBay for $60 usd
backyard and starizona
yeah thats for skywatcher only and its the only one available
Yeah
Isnt gso supposed to have better mirrors

imma stick with the default spider for a while
This was my first light with the scope
If u zoom in stars look very weird
pinched optics or bad collimation?
First light optics has a secondary spider for gso
Yea that’s what I’ve read online, so far the optics have seemed pretty decent on my stellalyra
I noice on the edges of the frame the stars sort of turn into a coma shape, are you using a coma corrector?
Also for clean spikes, you would need a primary mirror mask to cover the clips holding the mirror
Oh yea not using one yet im waiting for it to arrive
Ik that
I’ve also noticed collimation cause strange spikes to occur so I would check that as well
Ah
yep i hope those arent that hard to find
I think first light optics has one
Eu
Nice
With shipping and converted to eur the spider would cost me 189€
While the skywatcher one on ebay its 58€
Dang
any clue on what that could possibily be?
Dang yea it’s still expensive, honestly the stock spider is still not too bad, with my 150pds when I installed just a primary mirror mask it still gave me some really nice clean spikes
Looks like coma and collimation is off, one side seems to have more coma then the other which tells me that collimation is probably off
Could also be tilt, but most likely tilt in the mirrors
Imma stick with it for now, maybe i could check on the mirror mask
damn
gotta wait for my corrector to see
Yea, I feel it’s probably just collimation though
Also on this night i forgot to check collimation
Ah, yea I would check that for sure
mine doesnt hold pretty well even after a day it would shift
Good to know thank you
Also the primary mirror mask is usually way cheaper than the secondary spider
Has to be gso compatible or can be universal ?
Damn, I have that issue as well with my stellalyra
I’m not sure but they have a gso version
I saw a guy saying just check collimation every 1 - 2 months lol
Ill have a look thank you sm
Haha, I wish
No problem
Ah I just checked first light optics, I think they only have it for the 200mm, deepskydad makes some though, I believe it’s also in the eu as they are selling in €, looks like you would have to measure your mirror clips though
Yep ive seen too
But luckly
Ive found a guy who shared a 3d print project about a primary mirror mask
For a 6" gso newtonian
Its the same as mine but his is F4
Mine is F5
Hope it fits printing these parts wouldnt cost as much as the flo mask
He also made the clips thinner
On the comments a guy has it and works perfectly so
Oh nice, that seems like a great option
Yea and its pretty thin so i wont lose as much aperture
Cuiv said you lose 1% of aperture when using the primary mask
But that one is pretty thin
Look good
oh wow that’s a lot less than I thought, I imagine with that 3d printed one it's even less, damn
