Thinking of getting the 10" version, mainly for galaxies and the occasional planetary work.

I have a neq6 pro I'm currently refurbishing fir the mount, on a homemade pier which should be man enough.

I have a zwo asi533 mc pro for deep space work and a asi678mc for planetary.

I currently do deep space with the evolux 82ED, so am looking primarily for the longer focal length.

Is the 10" a worthwhile step up in terms of focal length and worth the tradeoff in size and unwieldiness? I want something that will let me image small fuzzies for years to come. Will the 1016mm focal length be enough or is there something else more suitable in the same price range?

usually for 10" scopes it's recommended to get something above the neq6/eq6r

That's useful to know. I was hoping the concrete pier and belt mod would make it man enough, particularly at the not-too-excessive focal length. So the 8" may be more suitable then?.... which, even more pertinently.... are these OK for galaxy season?

the main issue of the 10" isn't the focal length but the size, that thing will act as a sail and catch any wind

8" is perfectly fine, it's what I've been using for galaxies so far, mine is f/5 tho

Ah... I see a potential path to justifying an observatory ;D
