#I want to buy my second telescope

what do you want to do with this scope
also that budget is pretty small for a decent scope
i was thinking to use it as visual, like, using the eye, but also try to take some photos with my phone, for example details of jupiter and other thingsor andromeda idk, and in the future, probably buying a dedidated camera
or a dobsonian wouldn't be a problem if i can use a tripod or somehting to put it on it, bc using it normal is too small and is uncomfortable
Not sure if people would agree with me but I would definitly recommend the celestron 130SLT. I used it as a beginner telescope and it was really good for visual astronomy and for taking pics using my phone. I didn't use the phone connecting bracket but i am pretty sure if you use that as well the images would be very nice. The scope is computerised and sits on an ALT AZ mount i think. Buying it brand new might not fit the budget you have but maybe you could try find it used.
For me this scope was really good and was one of my first telescopes i used for visual
Ty
I searched but couldnt find any used
where did u search?
ah
And mercadolibre
theres gotta be like other used markets in america specifically for telescopes
im based in the UK and we have AstrobuysellUK and its like one of the biggest used markets for optical equipment
theres gotta be something simillar in the USA
ah
just like keep a look out
for any scopes
dw you will defo find one soon
heritage 130 is a bit above your budget but its a good option
it is a dob but it has a thread on the bottom to put it on a tripod
do u know if it works with a 1/4 tripod? or i have to buy another things no adapt it on the tripod?
cause i was thinking about a skymax 102, which one u think is better? and why
im not sure if the skymax would be better
because it has more focal length which is good for planets but
you can just get a barlow and ive been told that a barlow + bigger aperture is better than a scope that already has that focal length but less aperture
though i only have experience with the newt, ive never owned a mak
and the newt will be better for deep sky
i didnt think abt that
u changed my mind
now the thing is how could i adapt it in the tripod
ill search
Tripod Mount 3/8 thread block
also if you increase your budget a bit you can get the 150mm version
its not much more
i was thinking about that
i saw a video
the scope has a vixon plate or smth like that
oh is actually vixen
it has dovetail
so you can upgrade your mount without having to do anything to the scope
also cant you just put the dob on a small stool or table
no need for the tripod
i just put mine on a small table and its fine
Great idea but id prefer the tripod
The thing is that i have a 1/4 tripod
With just one thread
When i get home ill send u photo
My tripod looks like this
As i know my tripod is 1/4
Do u know if it’s compatible?
Oh
Yea no
Not a good idea to use one of those
so should i buy a new tripod?
cuz a mount
is expensive as hell
a box
or a table
not my best option
i'd prefer tripod
You need both
A mount isn't optional
And if it's not a dobsonian then a tripod/pier is also not optional
But why not just use a small table?
works fine and is much cheaper
sad
well
Well you need something to be able to move the scope
The only issue with a table is you can't level it like you can with a tripod
Yea and if you decide you want a tripod you can always buy one after
yeah that's why i prefered the tripod but, if i cant do it, then i have to use the table
I think you could try it without the tripod then later buy a tripod if you want it
Since if you end up not needing a tripod you save money
do you know the type of tripod i have to buy? sorry for asking too much but, im just new in this
i didn't look much into tripods so idk
I think this is a good one
