Speaking of springs. Some newts not made for AP have their focusers too far in the tube worse case causing weird stars. You can get longer screws or loosen the default collimation screws and rely on the springs to take up more slack to push the mirror up, pushing prime focal plane out further from the focuser

I wonder if reducing the central obstruction can make a difference. I use a 533 so it’s fairly small. I wonder what the results could be if any can be perceived

Will this list of parts be enough to self-build a newtonian? Just double checking with somebody who has a lot more experience with newts.

Betty's Full Front End is a big upgrade for almost all commercial Newtonians. The benefits of having an extremely accurately engineered secondary mirror holder combined with a lightweight 3 extremely thin veined spider which has been cnc machined out of a single high grade aluminium billet are numerous. Thank you for the advice. Both the carbon tube is fully compatible (and according to my knowledge, identical) to the GSO 8" f/4 aluminium tube, and the secondary spider is also deticated and measured to GSO telescopes, so it's probably going to fit no problem. Betty's secondary mirror holder can be adjusted in height on the full front end using an alan key to very accurately align it with the focuser hole, and with the pretty large amount of spacers that come out of the box, it almost certainly shouldn't be a problem. My budget is already very tight so I will probably get a Hotech as you recommended, but not the cheshire or OCAL. I'll try to fully align the secondary mirror using star collimation. Again, thank you for helping me.
