Starting with dso using a c8 is tough, especially on the nexstar mount, while the wedge can help a bit it's still nowhere as adequate

For DSO definitely not, i started this way and the mount cannot track or slew accurately enough to do DSO imaging effectively even at F6.3 with the wedge, youd be looking at 30s exposures at the max (Even then may get some trailing) id highly recommend avoiding the 8SE for DSO, planetary it works great, same for visual
