Milkyway Mosaic New Zealand

NOT POSTING IN MILKYWAY PICS UNTIL SOMEONE MAKES A FORUM

In July I visited New Zealand and I got absolutely blessed by the weather there!! During New Moon I visited Lake Tekapo and managed to shoot a Milkyway Mosaic. This image was shot from B1, and I think it shows...I have never seen such incredibly pristine skies ever in my life! Absolutely stunning.
The only lightpollution in the sky was airglow and I suppose the zodiacal light (zodiacal light was not within my fov).

This image is a 16 panel mosaic, consisting of 4 foreground frames and 12 lightframes, each 2.5min exposure. I calibrated the lights with flats and bias.

And also what did the milky way look like with naked eye?

The only time I've ever seen milky way visual it just looked cloudy

id reckon this is a good estimation how it looks

you can definitely see the dust lanes and the shapes in them, the core is fing obvious, very bright.

its dark but since only light are stars u get used to the dark and u can still see a bit

When I was in b1 I could definately see at night, just not well under trees, tents, etc.

what would you say are the differences between the sky in the alps and the one in new zealand, i could prob take a guess but i wanna hear ur thoughts since ive always wanted to see a sky like this

biggest difference is that the core is far up so u can actually see the bright stuff

not on the nebulas. Lagoon is blue cause unmodded but its fken bright so it tends to bleach

u can still get pink colors with unmodded cams, but there is a misconception that its lost. this is due to a wrong application from the color correction matrix in some stacking softwares like deep sky stacker which are made for modded cams but not unmodded ones therefore it looks wrong on shots produced from unmodded cameras

interesting indeed. Its essentially the process of color calibrating. Which i do manually btw cause pix is unable to do so due to (you said it), the missing matrix

@round mist i happen to have done an alternative edit with lightroom‘s calibrated files before combining to mosaic. It also is blue in the core of lagoon
