I only have gimp and Siril so I don’t have much of anything to fix stars. If someone could see if they could get the stars rounder without messing to much detail up that would be great
(The picture In the post is compressed so the stars don’t look as bad, look at the tiff to see the actual image)

You could try a Deconvolution in SiriL, and the "Darken Only" blending mode technique on the starlayer in GIMP
Duplicate the star layer, change the blending mode of the top one to Darken Only and slightly nudge it to remove star trailing

If you only want the stars to be affected, yes. However, if you do it correctly it may sharpen up the galaxy itself too.
I'm not familiar with Decon in SiriL tho, I always use pix
