As a secondary gift I tried to capture the Orion's Nebula the day of her birthday. Unfortunately I had bad weather and being the beginning of march it is very low. I would like to ask if anybody is able to extract a little bit more from the data i was able to collect in the hour or so that the sky was clear. I tried both Siril and DSS. Thanks in advance everybody!!!!

i omitted that i used the optolong l-enhance filter for aps-c!!

it only takes the pixel size and focal length for the photometric color calibration
I googled the pixel size for the canon 90d and it said 3.20

very weird. it worked for me. i had to force the background extraction though

when I click "get metadata from image" it comes up with 450mm fl and 3.75 pixel size and it works for that
but I know those aren't right
but I guess I'll just go along with it

I'm not good at processing
I always use median filter and noise reduction in Siril but it almost makes the image more noisy. Idk what I'm doing

i live in bortle 8-9 and couldn't find heart and soul 🥲

thanks guys! i'm cheating a bit. i collected some other data yesterday as well (it was supposed to be data just from the birthday) so i could upload the data on the folder in a few minutes

Done, I uploaded a new file in the folder. Maybe slightly less data, but better quality overall

@tropic frigate there is a very noticeable seam where it appears you did a mosiac. Do you want me to keep that in there or crop it so just M42 is visible?

yeah...i spent a stupid amount of money on camera and lens, because im getting into wildlife ph. the weak link is the star adventurer for sure. bit wobbly with all that stuff on it
but for now it will do

I have an heq5 but I need to buy an adapter to put my camera on it and I gotta figure out how to use it :|

yeah it gets fiddly sometimes 😅 i use a cooling system attached to the camera with rubber bands. pretty cursed
