Hey all! So I'm super new to astrophotography. The photos are my 5th and 6th attempt. I've got a good tripod (no tracking ), a Sony A6400 and a Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens. Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for upgrades. I'd be looking to do the very basics of deep space, easy targets like M42 etc. So looking for insane detail, just a lens that can take a decent photo. My budget is around £200ish, so I'm looking at second hand lenses but really have no idea what to go with. Any help is much appreciated!

I also have a Sony ak but hardly use it for astro. I do use a mount though.

I use vintage glass, so no auto focus (don't need it anyway).

A 50mm lens in a crop is the longest you want to go. Orion will just fit in, so something like a 20mm is better.

Have a look in second hand shops and charity shops.

I'm using vintage 30/35 years old Olympus glass. They work a treat.. Best to stop down to f4.
