#C5se on a SWSA2i

There is a C5se OTA for about $200 used nearby. I have a SWSA2i and 135mm lens that I have been doing wide field of a few years.

But recently I have been trying to get into more DSOs specifically galaxies.
My rokinon doesn't quite have the reach.

I've been looking at SCT for the focal length. But I want to maintain the portability I have with my startracker setup. From what I can tell from the internet the C5 would be light enough to fit fully loaded on the SWSA2i.

Any thoughts, comments, concerns about sticking a small SCT on the startracker?

i would advise you to not do this

it’s too heavy for the swsa

not too sure how much it weighs, but keep in mind that you really shouldn’t go above 50% if the max payload that the manufacturer says for astrophotography.

You'll end up breaking your mount

Also the swsa just isn’t meant to be used at that focal length, the gears aren’t the best quality and it’s tracking isn’t good enough for those big focal lengths

If you want to use the c5, you'll need a new mount

keep in mind it’s called a star tracker, it’s meant for really light otas or dslr + lens

Okay that is good to know. So in that case is it just better to up everything. Larger aperture SCT and something like the HEQ5. Still want some amount of portability. We are in the city but have bortle 2 and 1 Sky's within a short drive
