orion XT8 is my personal fav
Am loving the skywatcher classic 200p 8inch personally
thanks, did you need to buy filters or extra eye pieces with the scope?
i bought extra lenses yes but not filters, (it came with a moon filter and some lenses second hand tho)
barlows are a must as well as the usual magnified eyepeices
they 2x or 3x the magnification, best for planetary/lunar tho.
for dso u will be able to see a little colour on orions nebula, a slight smudge of andromeda and if u can find ofther dso's they will usually appear as a faint shadowy object.
havent rlly used my dob in a while as i use a different setup for astrophotography but i hope that helps, there will be more people put there who will use their dobs way more than me. (a telrad may come in useful tho as u will need to learn how to starhop without goto)
ok, thaks for the advice, is the Flo website decent for buying telescopes or are they all kind of the same
flo is great
is a right angled finderscope a good idea for a dob instead of the standard straight one that comes with the scope?
It will help yes as it is sometime hard to bend over to look through the finderscope
@nexy u know anything about stellalyra? never heard anything about them...
it doesnt even ping bro
i went for a 200p skywatcher, thanks for the help ๐
It's much worse quality than StellaLyra tbh.
The mount is so rubbish it broke for me when assembling lmao
Has no fan, rubbish focuser
200p is good, they have an extraordinary coatings.
Nice and fast delivery from Flo.... just need the weather to clear now (scotland), be waiting a while haha
your gonna really enjoy it have a nice time ๐
make sure ur finder scope is aligned tho, very common beginner mistake
