Not a good image, but for 40 minutes I was suprised at the detail. I really had to fight this one, I think the camera is going out, my darks are getting noisier and noisier with hot and cold pixels, which almost completely took up the frame. This was more of a test honestly, my school had only taken photos of M 31 and some nebulae, and no one had done a galaxy outside of that before. so... I did :). Definitely going to replace the focuser and probably the cam as well.

It's truly an insane privelage to not only have one but to be in charge of one. I really wish every school had one, we got lucky because Kutztown Universities astronomy professor was so incredibly kind to hand us this for free! I'll never not be grateful
Yea
Your school has an observatory
I am also jealous
Oh wait my university also has an observatory as I’m awaiting to use it this or next year but I still gotta wait years to actually get there
What kind of telescope is it?
Meade LXD75 Schmidt Newt
Man, this is such a neat target. I started imaging this last night; I don't have enough exposure yet but it's coming along quickly thanks to my astronomy club's huge scope (Meade LX200 16"). Here's a quick stack of the 1h 10m of exposure I have so far:
get. more. data.
I have nothing but cloudy nights and I can only stay there until 10 🫠 I'm moving onto other projects with it
Damn that looks nice! Is there any way to dither on yours?
