Hey ya'll! Thanks for having me! I'm super brand new and I've spent 2+ weeks doing my initial research, learning terminology, and my decision hasn't become any clearer. I live in the Chicagoland suburbs - about 1 hour from downtown so there is heavy light pollution. Is there a telescope/setup that could handle this level of light pollution? I will definitely have opportunities to travel to darker skies every now and then. I'm super interested in photographing deep sky objects with my Sony a7iii, that would be the goal. My initial budget is around $1,000 and I wouldn't mind saving up. The Celestron 8SE looks appealing, but I think I'd like to give a go at using an EQ mount. Any advice helps! Here is my first shot of the Milky Way, taken a couple weeks ago!
