I have an Altair Ascent Starwave 80ED, seems to be near enough the same optical tube with a different name.

From what I've done with mine, it is lovely (though I did pay around £350 for mine with a 0.8x Reducer / Flattener), it is sharp for visual and images though you will get a bit of CA. I'll include a small bit of one of my images so you can get an idea, I think that brightest star is mag 7 as a point of reference.

I think there may be better things out there for nearly $600, but it is still a nice and well built tube.

I can confirm the Z61 is better from my experience.

Def not day and night difference, but the CA is very minimal in the Z61 compared to the 503

Heres a broadband unfiltered image I took with the Z61 (1x flattener) and my Canon T5. As long as you process the stars in a conservative manner, they'll look fantastic.

If your shooting primarily duo narrowband OSC or mono imaging the sv503 wouldn't show as much CA

I Think it is just a tick cheaper. Although I could get a used Z62 which costs basically the same and alr comes with a field flattener. I found one for 635€ and one for 650€ on eBay. Both with the 1x flattener included although I would love a 0.8x corrector and reducer
