#ASI533MC or ASI294MC

294MC has a slightly wider FOV i believe, However the 533 is a better sensor and I would say don't get the 294
Isnt the 294 the one everyone seems to have problems with?
It has tricky flats but it's not as bad as people say
I would still get the most recent sensor tho
iirc the 294 has amp glow, the 533 does not. That alone is reason enough for me to go for a 533 (I literally bought one today).
Clean lights will always be better than lights that need calibration frames to look good.
Personally the 533 it has such incredibly clean data, its unbelieveable, these was taken by @sonic marsh with a 533mc pro and EdgeHD 8
The sensor is unbelievably good especially for the price too
Incredible images
They are indeed!
dither
dithering removes most of the noise
a,p glow i mean
No it doesnt lol
The parts that would be covered by the glow move a but with dithering so in theory it should be able to fill the missing pieces
Not sure how well it works
There is no way dithering can remove this
Oh wow that's bad, is that the 294?
Yeah that rules out the 294 for me
ho wlong is that dark
tf is up with that cam
thi sis my 5 minutes master dark
no dakrs
@indigo thistle have you dithered with a 294 before?
I didn't. Cant afford it . But there is still some amp glow visible in your image. And the more you strech the more it will be visible
Make it starless and strech more. I am very much certain that dithering cannot fix amp glow
Darks help a lot but its still better to just not have it....
yeah i can see the amp glow
More like rotate your camera 180 degrees. You'd need to do some extreme dithering to solve amp glow. But then again, clean lights are always better than lights that need calibration frames to look good. But that's just my 2 cents
Ignore that its overexposed, where is the ampglow? @indigo thistle
You all are overreacting, the 533 aint better, it just has no ampglow, in general its the cam with bigger pixels and a smaller sensor so ye
Only good because its cheap
Or better said it would be better only because its cheaper
No dark frames?
Well yeah. That makes sense. Darks fix it
Its totally fine
Most people having problems with it fail at taking good calibration frames
And that kicks back on its image
They are, i take them at .8 with a tshirt and my laptop 😂 idk what everyone has, mine work all the time
Weird stuff. The thing i was talking about before was that you cant remove amp glow with dithering. Not that ampglow is the worse thing that happened to the world after 9/11 (obvious exaggerating:) )
Ye, dithering helps to get data on the overshadowed parts
I mean, personally id rather have smaller pixels anyway, calibration frames with the 294 ive heard arent a easy game normally, but generally the 533 sensor is newer, and having smaller pixels is nice, would rather not have to drizzle, and if using high focal length would rather be oversampled or binning
Thats just my opinion though, the 294 is still a great cam regardless
I honestly dont know why everyone has problems with calibration frames
They are soooo easy i could cry
The owner of my cam had problems too
Its not the cam
Tbf i can understand not being good at calibration frames XD i suck at flats, but yeah its down to the person, if they dont mind bigger pixels and amp glow but have a bigger sensor then sure, but if sensor size has nothing to do with it, and they are using shorter focal lengths, the 533 has it imo
(The person owning the cam before me)
Yeah lol
Ye with shorter focal lenghts id take the 533 too probably
Amp glow can be calibrated but that doesn't mean the 294 is better
Your not wrong, both cams have ups and downs, like the 533 sensor is small for my liking, but the 294 has big pixels
Bruh the fact that got failed to send XD
Ye xd
But yeah thats pretty funny cant lie XD, over time surely itd get easier to take them
Like i had never really problems with them
I take them cooled all the time,
Darks (like darks lol)
Darkflats 0.8s
Flats 0.8s
(Flats with a tshirt + rubberband, laptop = about 75% brightness, white image i screenshotted somewhere, i take them too cooled)
Could it be that there are some quality control issues or something?
My friend used to have 294 and his biggest problem was that calibration worked 75% of the time. But on some nights it just wouldn't. And he got fed up
Darks and bias frames are really easy lol, flats ive always had issues with, atleast with the C8 (not so much with the quattro) but they used to cause walking noise, wouldnt actually correct properly, or would make the actual images noise sooo much worse to a point id rather deal without them. After getting a UV/IR cut filter it somehow fixed most of my issues? still weird cant lie lol
My flats length needs to be 1-10 seconds otherwise it makes the end image incredibly noisy
Its a user error like 100% if they work one time they work all the time
Try without bias
I too take no bias frames
Show me your issue
Was it darks and bias? or just flats? flats can always be inconsistent tbf
I got some old pics of it, 2 seconds
I remember him getting some goofy gradients from flats
@flat cargo cant find the direct comparisons that i took, think i deleted them, but heres M106, this image didnt get the walking noise or bad noise because i took long flats, (4 seconds) but you can see where it "Tried" to correct the dust spots, the top right is where my OAG slightly sits in frame, and didnt
You know whats weird
Yeah, i hate flats XD
I had kinda the same vignetting going on with my old 150pds but it was gone when i used my apo, think it was a light leak of some sort
Strange, its really weird though, when i didnt shoot flats, it wasnt there, its like it tried to correct the wrong corner where the OAG is, your would make sense for a light leak yeah
I got alot of examples of the same things happening
If you have a chance try it with a apo one time, with the settings i shared, i swear you will succeed
Yeah, its weird, the quattros flat work 100% of the time, the C8s dont though
I use the ASI294MC and to be honest I haven't had any issues with it. The amp glow is kinda faint and can be easily taken care of with dark frames.
This pic is kinda out of focus cause a stray cat was bumping the tripod aggressively. but overall there was little to no amp glow when I took this pic
no . L + Ratio + 294 sucks
