#Anyone with PI fancy having a go with my NGC6995 data?

I had to denoise it before running starxterminator. it removed (amazingly) the noise pixels as well as the stars on the first attempt.
Yeah my sensor temp was 28 degrees ๐ I like it! Was this done in Pixinsight?
yes
I tried to mask the nebula and deal with the noise but it was a battle that exhausted me ๐
Yeah, perhaps more data will help.
Really tempted to get pixinsight but should probably upgrade my camera first!
Thanks for giving it a go!
No problem! I was using DSS and GIMP before trying the free trial of Pix. It expired and I was using Siril a while, and eventually forked out the dough for Pix. It is so powerful that every week it seems like I learn something new and am super tempted to go back and reprocess the last 10 images I got ๐
How do you manage to get those colours out? For me it always turns out either very green or very red
Colour calibration and individual channel processing. I split the channels to stretch them individually
I adjust the curves by channel separately most of the time. In this case, the blue portion becomes less aqua when you dial the green down a bit.
also, due to the filter used, i split the channels and recombined as RGG (similar to HOO data)
Oh yes, I did RGG too!
@dim swift not my greatest process lol but was fun data! i think if you put it upto like 4-8 hours thisll be really really good! Thanks for sharing (:
I like it! You did good clearing some noise, what did you use?
Yeah I'm looking to add more data when the clear skies come! I am really starting to feel the camera limitations now though. I guess thats what you get as you improve haha!
Thanks! most of the noise was NoiseXterminator, although some other methods like Jon ristas could work great too, mainly for the bg though was downstretching it after stretching the nebula how id like. Yeah definitely! skies arent too great atm here either lol
Im assuming the Altair 178c is like ASI 178MC basically lol
Nice! Been wondering if NoiseX is worth it. When would you use it? Just after a small stretch?
Yeah basically. I have had it for about a year and it served me well, but now it's time for it to be demoted to a guide cam and for me to sell on my atik gp guide cam. Just weighing up the 585 cooled, 183 cooled or 533 cooled.
NoiseX is amazing! doesnt really matter when or how you use it lol, usually i do it linear
Then if it isnt enough i do it again
But you can use it anytime, anywhere. Nice cam! seems to be doing a great job! yeah it has 2 uses lol plus its good for planetary (Although 242mm may not be ๐ ) but a 533 would be really good
Yeah well a C6 is in the pipeline too! my concern with the 533 is undersampling with the 50ED. otherwise I would straight up take that
Well theres 1 thing to help with that, Drizzling lol
Don't you need quite agressive dithering and a shed load data to get effective drizzle though haha. With the amount of clear nights we get in the UK, I may get one successful dithered image per season
To be fair, I drizzle now (Like this image) but I am not sure how effective it actually is.
Honestly no idea on the dithering XD never done it before lol but yeah very few nights for sure
tbf i dont think its so undersampled that youd loose alot of details, i mean LMC was very undersampled with the roki and DSLR, but he still got really good sharpness
Yeah good point, and I guess the 533 would be a good cam to go with the C6. Ahh dammit, i really cant decide haha
I mean, its the biggest sensor of them, and its right in the middle of sampling lol youll probably be abit oversampled with the C6 and undersampled with the 50ED
My second one would be the 585 cooled (Uranus C pro specifically)
The 585 will be quite oversampled with the C6 although BIN2X2 will sort that lol
Are you indending on using the native focal length on the C6?
Nah I will use an f6.3 reducer but its mainly going to be a visual scope for my daughter to see planets!
585 is the compromise i think. I like the idea of a 1x1 square sensor though
Sticking with makes sense too ๐
Yeah I am not intending on going mono for some time. Just don't have the clear skies and time for it
