#2 and a half hours on M101

I am too tired to process tonight and have work here soon so have fun guys π I did a quick edit.
This data is fun to play around with, you got a lot of background galaxies and the faint tail. Solid stuff, although the splotches are strange! Background extraction stopped working for me sadly, but there's a lot more to this data than I can get out right now
I just had a bit of a try for you, hope you catch up on some sleep.
How do I get these colors to pop?
like the browns from the dust lanes.
Firstly I split the RGB channels and did linear fit using the green channel as reference. Then recombined RGB and did DBE and noise reduction. Then Generalised Hyperbolic Stretch followed by black level adjustment using histogram transformation. Then split away the lightness channel and recombine it with colour boosted. Then multi scale linear transform to make bright parts of the galaxy show detail. Starnet2 to remove stars and then GAME mask for tweaking the background and galaxy independently of each other. Recombine star's and galaxy and a little more colour saturation using curves transformation. I only used PixInsight, no other software.
Wow, I really need to invest in PI.
Probably over saturated really but I saved your M101 image in 3 different formats so you can edit to your own preference here https://we.tl/t-BiuGBkmFK6
You're the man.
This is just a screenshot of part of the process. You are getting good subframes from your locale, keep up the good work.
Thanks a ton! The feedback really helps the process. I have gotten a lot better it all with the help.
Also, I realized could the splotches be from my light frames with some dust? I shoot from a dusty area.
It could be dust as you say. They remind me of cloud running through or some foliage shifting in the fov during the exposures. I tried to reduce them best I could but, it would be interesting to tie down exactly what is causing it. You know your own local environment best though. Very broadly, it's something between the target and your camera sensor, says I stating the obvious π.
Yeah most likely the dust then. I really appreciate the feedback! Love the edit you did!
Thank you for your comment and you are welcome π.
