#Darks vs bias

I just realized that Bias gives a better end result then Darks for me. I have a cooled dedicated astrocam (Risingcam).
I thought I´d share the result. After stacking the same data, first with Bias frames and no darks - then with Darks instead of Bias I did a identical automated background removal and looked at the removed backgrounds:

Not that the left image (Bias frames) have a less complicated background, but also it is a lot less stretched then the right one (Darks). If I streatch them the same ammont the Bias image looks completely black

i have done similar things. but even speaking about not using dark's will make people go absolutely crazy

i stacked some old data and did some inspections. i found that darks did nothing or just increase noise a little bit

with a canon 5d mk2, canon m5 and asi533mc

very interesting. i'll keep this in mind when using a camera without amp glow 😬
