Visual astronomy?
If yes get the biggest dobsonian you can find, considering the price, size, weight etc
I just want to take images of nebulae and galaxies an what not
If you want to image exclusively, don't start with a newt
It requires an expensive mount and they are difficult to work with
For visual yeah, big dob
ok thank you
A skywacher 5" newt, 130/650 Explorer 130PDS OTA are quite popular as they are small & light. But I agree with DaDillo, a dob is the best for a beginner for visual however if you are persistant with astrophotography, then I'd advise getting a refractor as they are easier to use, and smaller. You'd want a ED or maybe even an apochromatic one, because otherwise there's a lot of purple fringing, and it's a pain to edit with, but sice you are on a low budget you shouldn't think that much about it. 🙂
Ur first step would be a dslr
i have that
And a lens
cannon t7i
Get a roki
i found a skywatcher 2i pro
Ok then you really shouldn't use a reflector with it
ok can you recommend a good, cheap, refractor
Cheap as in
This would be an option (if you don't wan't the rokinon 135 lens)
Note that you also need a field flattener in the future
The rokinon would get longer subs
less focal lenght
Also it's wayyy faster
not sure what that is
A piece of glass that corrects the field of the image
You will have coma if you don't use it
For the rokinon you don't need one
does that negate the need for flat frames?
You still need flats
and i have a cannon camera and that lens look like it is for sony
ok
They make for canon too i think
Rokinon>that scope.
ill look into it
so the cannon version is f2?
All is
Get the f2
i might get that thanks
or t2.2
what is t2.2
Its better then a doublet scope
Ur looking at samyang 135 i think
The cine version, same thing just with a different clickless apature ring. The normal one is preferable but cine is cheaper sometimes
On the heels of the recently introduced Rokinon 12mm Fisheye and 50mm F1.4 lenses, Rokinon expands its already impressive Full Frame Prime Lens lineup with the Rokinon 135mm f2.0 ED UMC Digital Telephoto Lens. This high speed telephoto feature a circular 9-blade diaphragm for superb out-of-focus ...
Samyang=rokinon
is that the lens we talkin about
would it be worth it to get this lens later on and start with a nifty-fifty
1.8
Sure
alright cause that is much cheaper, and eventually I will get a job and save up for the 135
thanks for all the help!!
Buy used
i probably will
some advice from someone that f'd up and bought 2 big, start with a small refractor and not a small reflector and if you cant afford a mount next to it I'd just recommend starting with a mount and dslr bc that way you can at least take images, I made a mistake of first buying the mount and an 8in scope not even having a camera and now I'm about half a year into the hobby and have tried to sell everything a few times bc of frustration and have yet to have done any good imaging since I still don't have a camera
you also need to look at what the focal length has to offer
