Hi so I’ve just started astrophotography and I’m looking for a used dslr to start off with deep sky. I found a canon eos 40d for £64. Which other ones would you recommend looking for?

The 40d is way too old, try to find one that's not older than 10~ years

Ok like what?

The 4000D/T3i is often suggested, otherwise the 1000 series is also good

You can also check what cameras the people on #🤩-show-us-your-rig and #deep_space_pics are using

You may have already picked up a DSLR, but here's a few images I've aquired using a 15 yr old Canon EOS Rebel xsi that I modified myself.

The first image was captured using a canon kit lens for the color with combined H-Alpha data from a 50mm prime lens to bring out some of the faint Ha dust. The last two were shot with a 61mm William Optics refractor using a light pollution filter. Both were less than 3 hours of exposure time.

I picked up my Rebel XSi for like 50 USD. I also picked up a Rebel T5 for like 80 USD and I'll include an image from that DSLR.

Same telescope as the last two above but with the rebel T5
