Yo, i just tested out the EQ6 at home (in my room just to check if everythings alright) and as it turns out my polar scope in the park position of my mount (with dec at 90 degree tilt to see through the polar scope) isnt aligned with 0 at the top and so on but looks like this (picture) when I look straight through it
#eq6 r pro polar scope rectile all over the place

Apparently a lot of them aren't aligned right from factory and need to be calibrated by the user
Or that's what I have read
Oka, thanks. Do you happen to know how to align it properly?
Make sure your polar alignment is accurate by checking the calibration (alignment) of your mount's polar scope, and adjusting it if needed. In this tutorial I'll show you what's inside your polar scope, demonstrate how to set up (during the daytime) to check the alignment, and explain how to adjust the alignment until its spot on.
Here is a video, it's probably better at explaining than I could ever do
That video doesn't cover tze issue I am experiencing unfortunately
I am looking for a fix on how to get the 0 on top of the polar scope
And unfortunately i cant just move my mount in RA as it would be upside down
you kinda just have to imho, if not just imagine the zero was on top
Imho? What is that?
in my honest opinion
Ah okay thx
But yeah thats what I thaught it was going to be like
And with a software on a laptop you could easily do that automatically am i right?
Okay thx
@ripe finch Looks like a bad case of RD to me. Rectile Disfunction effects 1 our of every 2 polar scopes at some "point" in their lives..... may have to go to a Scope Doctor and have him write you a prescription. It's just a small pill you take 20 minutes before you want to use your instrument. 😉
It should help your Pole Scope point north, if you know what I mean.....
If that doesn't straighten it out, I unscrewed the end of mine off. That allowed me access to the tip where the little disc is. I turned it to the correct alignment and screwed it back together again.
Thanks! Once clear skies I will just pretend that the 0 is at the top. If that doesnt cut it i will try what you were describing
Will it into being if you can. If you can't do what I do. Polar align with Sharp Cap. I would have to lay down on the ground to look through my polar Scope. NOT gonna happen. And besides, even if I could I'd still only use that as a rough alignment tool. Sharp Cap gets me dialed in PERFECTLY in a few minutes on a good night. On a bad night....not so much.
Thanks man! Really appreciate your help. If weather forecast is fr this time I will be out next saturday imaging
The other way is to continue to do the 3 start alignment which works out your polar error, then run the polar align function from the handset. Much eaier than using the polar scope IMO
Doing this through the hand controller especially for visual astronomy will land targets dead center of your eyepiece from my experience. And that was with an Celestron CG5 ASGT
I haven’t done this yet, but I have a loose reticle and I found this interesting. Might help you too. https://www.theastrogeek.com/dark_sky_journal/2010/2/13/fixing-a-loose-recticle-in-your-orion-polar-scope.html

Yes, if you have one of these things, we all do it - sooner or later, we loosen our polar scope recticle too much and it falls out and rolls around inside the polar scope. This makes polar alignment impossible - but it's very easy to fix! The trick is in understanding how the polar scope is put toge
thing is i will be doing long time exposures with it so I will just polar align first and then do 3 star alignment, should hopefully work fine
