Hello All,
I am Dave from India. I am starting my journey with Astronomy. Currently, I usually do the sky watching using my Celestron Skymaster 15x70 binocular. Now I am interested to go little deeper into this hobby and want to buy a telescope. Portability and sharp image is my requirement with minimal setup. I want to start this journey with visual viewing and if successful will go to astro photography path but AP is not priority. Its very difficult to get Skywatcher in India and the distributor is not good and provide good service. One of the distributor is recommending the following scope. Could you-please suggest whether this is a good scope and what are the pros and cons for this scope?

This dob is fine

#

it's fine, on par with the heritage 130p, only thing I would suggest is a 2x barlow

what kind of objects can I see other than planets and moon.

8" is actually amazing for visual

Thanks guys for the quick response. Should you suggest me to go for Bresser or GSO 8 inch dobs which can provide great views/ some pics via mobile phone of planets, moons and DSO?

but

#

if you have the plan of getting a tracker in the future

#

a lighter scope like the bresser would probably do astrophotography on a lighter mount

#

id go with the 8" as a beginner scope overall

Yes I understand that. But is there a more sharp images visually i can see via 8 inch dobs I see that the GSO 8 inch dobs comes with 1:10 dual focuser . Is this is a advantage over the Bresser?

#

I am seeing that bresser Eye pieces and focuser has some drawback or limitations but could some one let me know wrt to focuser and eyepieces how these 2 scopes are different and which should one go for visual and taking snapshot using mobile devices

Focuser won't give clearer views. They are just better to focus with. And some might have a 2" fochser so keep that in mind

2" dual focuser is better

#

But 2" eyepieces cost more. But theres an adapter for 1.25" eyepieces

Uh

#

Sharper isn't the right word

#

Sharper more detailed planetary views in an 8"

#

It picks up a lot more light for DSO

#

Oh nvm i didn't look at what u responded to. Yes 8" will give you sharper views techically. I thought you were talking about the 2" focuser giving more sharper views😄

So if visual astronomy is a priority definitely pick the 8"

#

Yep.

#

And planetary photography

#

But the tracking might be a problem
