Mars Today. 114/500 2x Barlow and 3x Barlow plus a 6mm eyepiece = 500x Magnification

gusty zodiac
pastel nexus
zealous edge
#

I should mention, maximum useful magnification increases with aperture, but even in absolute perfect conditions and seeing, you generally don't/won't need anything higher than 350 ~ 500 power to have fun. Unless you're doing insane planetary imaging, and need several thousand times magnification and your telescope mirror is bigger than a dinner plate

#

Lower magnification is generally better for visual, you can push it a little on the planets but anything higher than 50 ~ 100 power isn't usually needed

#

Mars is not an ideal target for a telescope like yours, unfortunately.

Especially now that it's left opposition

This was an attempt to push myself and to test out my new phone (samsung s23 ultra). After an hour of issues, I had set up and only got about 25 minutes of data before calling it a night. Night Two

Alright, second night out. Not so bad right? Well not necessarily. I had issues for over 30 minutes where my mount wouldnt goto the Eagle Nebula and it actually be there (however it worked fine for other targets, such as the dumbell nebula I snagged a photo of).

That being said, I did manage to eventually find it and got over an hour of data, putting my total integration to 80 minutes, which is by far the most I've ever had.

Since I didnt last time, I'll include equipment here:

  • svbony 48p 90mm
  • Svbony 32mm eyepiece and svbony uv/ir filter
  • SWSA GTI
  • Samsung s23 Ultra on pro mode
