Why did the Title/Name change of the Modpacks on CF?
CurseForge told me I was not allowed the version numbers in the title

For Example:
Better MC [FABRIC] - BMC1 = FABRIC 1.19.2
Better MC [FABRIC] - BMC2 = FABRIC 1.20
Better MC [FABRIC] - BMC3 = FABRIC 1.21
Better MC [FORGE] - BMC5 = FORGE 1.21
Better MC [FORGE] - BMC4 = FORGE 1.20
Better MC [FORGE] - BMC3 = FORGE 1.19.2
Better MC [FORGE] - BMC2 = FORGE 1.18.2
Better MC [FORGE] - BMC1 = FORGE 1.16.5

Medieval MC [FABRIC] - MMC1 = FABRIC 1.19.2
Medieval MC [FABRIC] - MMC2 = FABRIC 1.20
Medieval MC [FABRIC] - MMC3 = FABRIC 1.21
Medieval MC [FORGE] - MMC5 = FORGE 1.21
Medieval MC [FORGE] - MMC4 = FORGE 1.20
Medieval MC [FORGE] - MMC3 = FORGE 1.19.2
Medieval MC [FORGE] - MMC2 = FORGE 1.18.2
Medieval MC [FORGE] - MMC1 = FORGE 1.16.5

Performatic = FABRIC 1.21.1
Better MC Skyblock = FORGE 1.20.1
Fantasy Realm = FORGE 1.18.2
SteamPunk = FORGE 1.19.2
Remain = FORGE 1.20.1
Revisioned [BMC] = FORGE 1.20.1
Dark Fantasy [MMC] = FORGE 1.20.1
Fresh & Cozy = FORGE 1.20.1
Versatile = 1.19.2 FABRIC [Modrinth Only]

#

To help with the Confusion:

[FORGE] = Modloader
[FABRIC] = Modloader
[NEOFORGE] = Modloader (Replaced FORGE Modloader for 1.21+ Modpacks)

Example:
BMC3 = Third Iteration of Better MC Modpack Series using that Specific Modloader
MMC5 = Fifth Iteration of the Medieval MC Modpack Series for that Specific Modloader

Also for Example both BMC3 [FABRIC] & BMC5 [NEOFROGE] are on Minecraft Version 1.21 but one Iteration is only on the 3rd Version due to only starting Development on a later Minecraft Version for that Modloader

Summary of main differences between the Modpacks

  • Better MC = 200 - 250 Mods [Vanilla Themed]
  • Medieval MC = 300 - 350 Mods [Medieval Themed w/ Magic]
  • FORGE = A Modloader that uses FORGE specific mods [Main mods on FORGE that are not on FABRIC are Alex Mobs, Ice and Fire, Blue Skies, Original Aether, Dragon Mounts: Legacy, TeamAbnormals Mods, Biomes O' Plenty, L_Ender 's Cataclys, MineColonies + many more]
  • FABRIC = A Modloader that uses FABRIC specific mods [Main mods on FABRIC that are not on FORGE are BetterEnd, BetterNether, Bosses of Mass Destruction, AdventureZ, Marium's Soulslike Weaponry, Wizards, Paladins & Priests + many more]
  • Versions = Every version has its own unique sets of Mods that either has not updated to latest or are not updating at all [For example right now Ice and Fire is only available for 1.12 - 1.18, Aether is only for 1.12 and 1.19, Atum 2: Return to the Sands is for 1.12, 1.15 & 1.16, Mowzies Mobs is for 1.12 - 1.18 + many more]

What Java version do I need?
If the issue you're experiencing is clientside, and is not related to a server, then follow the "Java" section in our performance guide for how to switch to a newer, more stable version of Java.

If the issue you're experiencing is serverside, then follow the Java section of our server installation guide.

there a wiki for <insert modpack name>?
No, there is not. Due to how many modpacks we have and how frequently the mod list changes for all of them, the task of maintaining a wiki for all of them is infeasible due to how large the workload would be. To find out more information about the modpack or specific mods, read the questbook ingame. You can also look up individual mods online and read their mod pages or wikis.

Where do I find servers to play on / how do I advertise my server?

I have a suggestion for a new mod / config change!
Use suggestions, and follow the format in the pinned messages.

I'm lost and don't know what items do, what goals should I set ingame?
Read the questbook by clicking the questbook icon in the top left of your inventory.
You can use the search bar in your inventory to search for items. Press R while hovering over any item to see Recipes. Press U to see Uses.
Look at the mod page for the mod that adds a specific item to learn more about an item. Some mods have their own wikis.

How do I install the modpack?
From our experience, the most stable launcher by far is ATLauncher, also known as ATL. Keep in mind that ATL is NOT related to TLauncher in any way, and is not a cracked launcher.

To install ATL, do the following:

  1. Go to https://atlauncher.com/download. If you are on MacOS, then choose the "Jar" version under the "Other" tab.
  2. Install and run the setup, then open the program.
  3. Login to your Microsoft account that owns the Java Edition of Minecraft from the Accounts tab on the right. This process is 100% safe, as it goes directly through Microsoft. ATL doesn't see your account credentials.
  4. Go to the Packs tab on the right, then click "Curseforge" on the left.
  5. Search the modpack you wish to download.
  6. Click "Install". Then, follow the on-screen directions.
  7. Go to the Instances tab, and click "Play" on the modpack you downloaded. If you ever see an "Update" button on the instance, click it.
    This video explains the process: https://youtu.be/xMYW1wMbmkM

To transfer your Curseforge world to ATL, simply right click the modpack on Curseforge, or click the 3 dots, then click "Open Folder". Copy the Saves folder, then click "Open Folder" on ATL and paste the Saves folder there. Do the same with the XaerosMinimap folder, or the Journeymap folder, to transfer over any waypoints you've created.
Because ATL downloads the exact same files as Curseforge does, your world will be the exact same and you will be able to join the same servers. ATL also works without an internet connection (after you've installed the modpack, of course), and does not have any bloat from Overwolf. You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATL installed.
