#Map Atlases - transfer pins from Explorer Maps

Something that's always bothered me is the inability to insert exporer maps in the Atlas. They just convert to normal maps, even if the atlas is on the same scale ! If you have a village map, it deletes the ๐Ÿ , if you have an ocean monument map, it deletes the ๐Ÿ›, if you have a treasure map, it deletes the โŒ๏ธ !

This sucks because I really want a way to pin down structures in my Atlas without using some basic Supplementaries pin like banners or, god forbid, a campfire that I already use to pin DnT taverns. And... what if there are two different icons on the same map ?

So here's what I suggest :
By using a Cartography Table, if you place an atlas or map in the top slot and an explorer map on the bottom, the icon on the explorer map gets cloned to the atlas/map, no matter the scale difference (since exporer maps are usually at 1:2 or 1:4, DnT has some maps even at 1:16, this allows for transfer between map scales which is usually an inconvenient mess).
If you place a slice map in the top slot, the icon gets transfered to the slice map, allowing icons on layers other than Top.

Furthermore, I would suggest adding more pin icons to Supplementaries. More than just beds, portals, lodestones and campfires, I suggest :

  • Monster Spawner
  • Trial Spawner
  • Trial Vault
  • Ominous Vault
  • All villager Job Sites
  • Crafting Table
  • Furnace
  • Sign + its inscription
  • Hanging sing + its inscription

Side note, waypoint sign icons should rotate in the direction they are pointing on maps/atlases. Otherwise, pinning them basically serves no purpose. "Yeah, 300 blocks ! ...to where, exactly ?"
What I would suggest is for the icon to be centred (and rotated) on the base of the 'arrow' icon, and text to be labled at the tip, so that multiple waypoint signs can be set on the same XZ coordinate, pointing at different directions, without overlapping one another.

...so this went on a bit of a tangent ? But I wholeheartedly think these are quite huge QoL changes that need to be added to Supplementaries and Map Atlases. They just feel like they're missing.

Actually they should add explorer maps just fine, idk why that wouldn't work

Even on different scales ?

Depends

#

Atlases can't accept maps that are of a different scale

Hence why I propose this transfer system so you can get those icons on differently-scaled atlases

#

but this is really not relevant for map atlas per se

#

basically at all

#

if i do something like that would probably be in amendments as an amendments feautre

#

moreover one can add more map markers already with datapack, i can add the spawner ones but the other ones seems a bit like arbitrary blcoks, specialy the crafting tales

#

the signs also can make sense

#

finally one can already place arbitrary pins by adding more tagged decporation to the pins tag

there is a tag that determines what are the placeable client only pins

#

and moreover one can also add custom makrers via datapack

like this i just added
