I thought you hated this language
why did u change ur mind ww
My guy is learning idk how many languages all at once
I respect it, 頑張って
Idk...Radka forced m It's kinda cool so far

good.
it is my eternal duty to spread the ouib.
And I am grateful for that, Radka
you are? i thought you hated the country 😂
/j
🥺
Π0140*
I just go Alt Gr + < and > www (i downloaded a fancy italian one)
who'd need this?
yes!
ΠDE OUF
wwww
(œ on its own is the same sound as é)
lol chariot
ahahahah
Chariot. Je valide !
Welcome, to coincidences 😂
But it's a great way to remember it 👍

idk if i'll get automod if i explain the joke
they just both sound very similar
They don't tho 😭
No.
Nuts neuf, the only sound that is similar is the N
The rest are completely different sounds
Neuf
One is な, the other is ぬ
It's like n+uh + f
Nuts is na+ts

that's like half of the whole sound which makes it close enough
can't believe i'm trying to explain a joke for so long
well then... in that case "no" also sounds like "nuts"
no, i get where the joke came from
i just don't get how it sounds similar enough for people to laugh at it
cause it just... doesn't 💀
it's just the way he says it, not necessarily how you would say it
well yeah, cause the audio is cut with a deez nutz joke
anyways
i love my bilingual puns
but this one is a no

yes
and i hate phonetics
yet i am making this explanation
see how bad it is

oh boy what this Happened
rien rien
Aujourd'hui est le 14 juillet.

Go along with it for the meme Radka

Party pooper

It's simply because when French people try saying "Nuts" we dont say Nats but Neuts :p but yea in a normal english sentence it would sound off
see, that's a reason i can get behind
french english is equally horrible as japanese english
Yup
to keep it "realistic"
Wwwww
cause the characters are not japanese
most of them are european
and like mulan is chinese
some from the middle east like jasmine (i think)
so they all have to be foreigners and they don't speak japanese to the kids
so their eng singing isn't that bad 👍
speaking of.... he sounds so scripted
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOGhdA_Iais&list=TLPQMTQwNzIwMjNmmPv02dU2GA&index=10
but better grammar than i expected
Fr he doesnt like when people compare him to pewds
Like there was a "huge" drama in the mid 2010s because his channel was just a blatant c/c of pewds www
Totally
but i do like how he's evolved more than i like how pewds has evolved
i like some of his concepts now
the prison videos are so fun actually
i wanna do that with my friends
But he already explained where his username came from and it was the same reason so ig he's just used to explaining jt
I still don't like that kid
it*
and some of the stories are good imo
I like the originality of some of his concept
i mean, i think for most english speakers, this is the first time they're gonna be hearing of squeezie so
it's a bit diff
the target audience is different
I still think he feels like pewds in some aspects (like the reddit reading stuff) but otherwise I respect what he does
who is not a kid
but that's okay
to me, pewds has been very boring since he moved to japan cause all of his japan videos are so basic and unoriginal
but ... i also live in japan so yk
Wwwww
happy for him tho, he seems to be happy, doing creative stuff like making chairs and tables and shelves
and happy for his child
He'll get used with time ig
yeah ... being knowledgeable about japan makes it very cringe to watch most videos about japan
😂
Said like that it sounds like he's creating a new genre of ikea
he really is... it's in his blood
i do like abroad in japan tho
he makes good in depth videos that are really better than just surface level stuff
I imagine it is
watching stuff about france really sounds off too by times
plus, he tends to focus on the countryside, not tokyo
yeah i do it all the time 😂 france is my hobby after all
Wwww
english: job
japanese: major
french: hobby
I take good note of that
(do i remember it correctly
)
😂
World: home
you're really into countryside eh
TRU
I mean I'm from the countryside
I don't like busy places www
But like a small countryside town is plenty enough
nah i see the charm
just not for me

i think 新潟 is good
i also really liked 岡山
and a good friend of mine lives in 別府 and swears by it
also 浜松 is fun!
for cities but in the countryside so like 10-15 min away from the center = nature
but within the city it's very nice

Won't be able to next year, in fine, due to me being both a part-time teacher and still student (it's a thing in France, after you pass the exam, you have a whole year as a part-time teacher and you're also being taught how to teach)
I love 新潟
新潟 is a pain to write by hand tho, each time you have to write your address, think about it
hey, after that 1 year tho
new is fine but yea that right thing uhh
all for the love of math 😤
we need more people like you!
unironically, it is a factor lmao
i have a friend who lives in 武蔵境 and the apartment name also has 武蔵 so he has to write it multiple times within 1 address
so long lmao
also like 三鷹
I have a friend who taught maths in Créteil for a year for his first year as a teacher
My phone font showing it as a white block smh
rip
Créteil ?! So that person wished to stop soon...
what
seems fine to me
He came from corsica so he was really not the kind to let kids walk over himself
is your phone's res rather small?
But yea he didn't really have a choice
76
48
124
98
96 then

But now he's back to corsica, so i hope you won't be shipped too far from home!
Ah oui oui oui !
I'm legit shipped 800km away from home
ça c'est questions pour un champion
Ow so kinda like him then
The difference is : I chose to go there
Well that's good then!
Doing your passion in a place you chose 😊
After all, I'm 23 and have no girlfriend, so technically, I can go wherever I want
i have a kid who doesn't really like car rides so it's hard to go places for a while
this one

wwwwwww
yea but some people even with those settings struggle to go further than 100km from home
i studied 2 years 1000km away from home and it was lowkey my best school years
CAT
That holds true for my bro, who ended up coming back to hometown and drop out from uni

AHAHAHA
Waiting for eventual fireworks
This looks so... East European ~ germania
Way too barbarian to be our noble France.
Don’t offend my pure Slavic blood with this crap /j
i have pure slavic blood, so i can say this
there's a reason my country is called "the country of slovens"
Tru you’re the slaviest of the Slavy Slavs
🪆
lmao nesting dolls
unfortunately
sad switzerland vibes fr
maybe sth like austria or czechia/slovakia
😂
🥖

We we baguette croissant
Ding ding ding you got it right
bruh feels like those hours long sessions in geotastic finally paid off

my momma slap meeee
funniest shi I've ever heard
Tiens donc...
YET
😭

à étudier* (à + infinitive verb)
And did you mean "pourquoi pas déjà étudier "pas""? (Why not study "pas" first)
no I mean
"because I haven't studied it yet"
Ooooow
Parce que (because) je ne l'ai pas (i havent it (l'= sentence object)) encore (yet) étudié (studied)
But 69 420 isn't a course fr
study the "ne pas" structure
it's a way to compose negative sentences
ok Rayane先生
very close!!!!!!
salut
j'apprends un peu de français
Bienvenue
unfortunately already i cant read it
francophone, different, langage are transparent words in english! there are lots of those you'll see
ironically enough transparent is a transparent word as well
wwwww
il fait gentil aujourd'hui

No problem. Radka and Nina are more of "common" French speakers than what I am. I'm more of the "eccentric" type.
you're not excentric
you're formal
that's a big difference
🤓
bonjour :)
yo!
Perhaps ping?
eh it's ok, i don't see her online so i'll ask next time she's here
i mean im pretty sure she will check her baby threads anyways so you could always write it
i can't just ask the question here
i'll just ask her if i can DM her
it's a serious topic that isn't worth talking about here
Omg this sounds exciting. Now I wanna learn French just to speak with you, Satsuma
I was but I was doing assignments 💀
それな
You can dm dw!
Great motivation

Whi
coucou 👀
aah gotcha
Ca me semble une bonne motivation.

i'll tell you when i'll be on my break
i'm only half awake rn
everything reminds me of my French test that went horribly
tests are overrated anyways
ofc
hello i speak french and im learning japanese

当 looks like a E written by a kid who tried to come up with a new accent and now i cant unsee it
oh idk

Oppress
aww
Cute right?!

i watched with francais subtitle even though it is funny
Flemish belgium smh
i mean je peux voir l'effort
)
Oooh thank you so much
)
they're training the big planes that bypass wall of sound (??) near my home it's very scary
France *
that's normandy in late july (2012)
late july again but 2016
water is cold, if you dont have any wind you're lucky because the wind is super strong and cold 💀
One new word per day and you'll get there!
||bea__u__coup ;)|| de rien
Merci merci

Bonne nuit
Quiero aprender

Bon jour!
Yesterday Je etudiais Français...when I...
Idk...
learned it!!
ok, now it's not a meaningless half-a-sentence ||(probably still wrong since I most likely need a composé for "I was studying" just like en Italiain)||

A retravailler

How does hello help me?😂
Rayane sensei!!!
How is Japones going?
Ohayo gozaimasu, i'm gonna begin when i'm back to France AT the beginning of August
I'm gonna buy a New micro, so french lessons are gonna become Real serious when i Come back

fellow baguette enthusiasts
@foggy lotus guess what i found today lmao
ain't no way i got something french, for japan, being sold in france
i wonder how many kilometers it did
Euh...
learning demonstrative words is such a pain when in French you say "ça" for everything
Soon enough, you'll experience the teaching too😏
Well teaching it is way easier than learning it
What's up with me and all this gallicism
How is teaching it easier than learning it if the whole job of a teacher is to help people learn 🤔
One of the biggest questions
Allow me to doubt that. Teaching is harder than learning
It depends. for me, the more you teach to younger people, the harder it gets. For exemple, a teacher at an elementary school has a lot more responsibilities than a college one, you have to educate the children while being at school (same for high school tho). Teaching in college is easier imo because you just have to know how to make the people understand what you are trying to explain.

Hello hello
Watashi wa Daijobu-desu
but i just gained 5 kilos (never gained a single kilo before ...). I feel like if i eat a salad i'll gain 2 more kilos !!!
noo
what...a salad?
You managed to get fatter
with salad?
WELL I tend to forget you eat crazy salads around the world
???
what did you eat
in what timespan did you gain that much
2-3 weeks
i feel like i'm getting fatter every day (i'm pretty much light-weight for now)
hahaha junk food
but i did that all year without getting a kilo so it bothers me
hehe i put 5 L of olive oil in it
a salad + bread of course
HOLY CRAP
mediteranean food hehe
maybe get checked by a doctor just in case
a month is a very short time span
especially if it never occurred to you before
before doing that i'll restrain myself for eating junk food for like a month to see if i still gain
- people like me that never got fat (even if we eat 10000 calories a day) will eventually get destroyed by their bodies one day, so it's maybe kinda logic
eat like you do usually
yeah i'm gonna do that
Absolutely not, you are underestimating how bad French grammar and spelling are 💀
i didnt know there were lists
i think there is also -us which is masculine
virus malus bonus...
and -ude has also an irregular like "coude" (masculine)
literally just thought it was random
this is why native speakers aren't necessarily good teachers
since you never had to learn them
but yes, there are more suffixes, those are just the most common ones
i think for a beginner, that is more than enough to try and memorize 💀
it's much better if they memorize it together with the vocab
but yk, just one word for each suffix is more than enough vocab for 1 day
just like kanji
honestly, i think it takes about the same amount of memory space
👍
a kanji and a reading
or a word and the gender
nahh, kanji is harder
exactly, it's important not to overload the brain with too much info straight away
will just discourage the learner
but a word with the correct accents in french + the gender + the meaning + the pronunciation
that is about the same
😂
i hate spelling in french.
can you tell?
wwww
it's what makes the language beautiful though
i hate the spelling in english so i feel you though
i always forget accents
so many sounds with consonants that arent used/not used the same from one word to the other in the same context
some are very important, some bit more secondary
there was (maybe still is) a debate with the circumflex accent, of which the use in some context is only there to say "hey. there used to be a "s" just after this letter in old french
cool eh?" like in "forêt", which is read the same as "foret", but keeps its accent because there used to be an S (found in forestier, forestière...)
but imo accents are important to learn especially as a beginner
online dropping them is no biggie but on a test it will make the whole difference
i always type without accents on pc cause i can't be bothered
and then when i type on mobile, autocorrect gives me accents and i'm like, そういえばあったなw
fr like with the japanese keyboard i only have lorenzo's util to make accents so i use it to write pro mails but otherwise 💀 mes amis ont qu'a se debrouiller ils sont grands c pas complique hein
I mean...
Bonjour Baguette people
Maybe not for an Italian
But we'll see😏
Hey there!

Oh là, mousaillon !
Ah, si vous saviez...
Monsieur Satsuma

Bonjour, Lorenzo

that's something you would say to someone while leaving
as a "hi" greeting we only say "bonjour"/"salut"/"yo"/"hola"... (from most formal/commun to most informal/uncommon)
good evening is "bonsoir", but it's only used in formalish contexts, like when you see your doctor or stuff like that; with friends you would say salut, yo, ...
as au revoir you have
adieu (farewell) : very formal
au revoir (goodbye) : very formal
bonne journée ([i wish you a] good day) : formal
bon après midi ([i wish you a] good afternoon) : formal
bonne soirée ([i wish you a] good evening) : formal
salut (an all-purpose informal), bye, byebye, ciao (pronounced tchao, sometimes written as such), tschüss (pronounched tchousse, sometimes written chouss or variants) -> English equivalent of "bye", informal
you can also say "la bise" but i only ever heard people over 30 use it, no real equivalent but it's informal and more in close relationships, like family friends or close friends, and more often than not feminine
waoh you didn't have to do so much its ok
but thanks you just cleared a big doubt of mines
nw
it's just so if you ever talk to french people your age outside of this server you don't end up sounding off by saying "au revoir"
tschüss
eww you can sound French AND German at the same time?
ofc
german is lv2 of half of the country w
you have to chose between this and spanish/italian when you get in middle school
ofc spanish is the little favourite nowadays but it used to be the other way few years back, so more 25+ yo people can speak german than the current generation (when i was in middle school it was 1 30-student german groups for 3 20-student spanish groups)
can change depending on the region ofc but that's the general "diagnosis"
We had to take a language class at uni and I took French back then
In Germany we had to choose between French and Latin too
Anyway I make fun of it but I think it sounds fun ^^ I hope I can learn a little again
Wish there weren't so many languages to learn
hehehe
in middle school latin was an additional option for us
so you had forced english and french, choice between spanish/italian (italian isnt available as LV2 in northern france, but it is more common in the south) and german, + extra latin if you wanted (more often than not forced by parents)
i did latin 3 years and regret every second of it!
😭
I thought it was cool!
It's just probably the language that will have the least utility ever and you'll forget all of it
i thought so too
i mean in french it makes sense to learn it, as in you understand some words ethymology better
Ah right
but (and that's a big but)
I was really into science and ROME I think I said I picked it so I could learn scientific names better?? (I was like 10 years old)
learning how to decline, how to make sentences, that kind of stuff with 6 different declination for each freaking word, that's madness
Yeah I think aside from German Latin is the one language I experienced that had way too many cases
i only went for the mythology but it was like 40% of the class
there is also vocative
god
it's burnt in my mind bro
hoc hac hoc = me trying to cough something out
no vo ac g d ab
having F U N yet? 😎
it's literaly worse than french conjugation because you have to do this for every single little word and verb and adjective like who does that
no wonder its gone extinct
true lol
i got once again shook by the この これ その それ あの あれ depression and wanted to understand wth were normal demonstrative pronouns in french
i think i might join the "learning french" team
gotta change up my resume 💀
wait im doing another one and fr a lot of my anwsers are off 💀
Tu sais, je ne pense pas qu'il ------- à ta fête
possible answers: "vient, vienne, venait, venu"
what i wanted to answer: viendra
💀
half happy this is a qcm bc otherwise id already be wrong to like 4 answers (out of 36 for now)
it is
i got b1 with this one
b2 with the next one in which i got a 100
and this third one im???
i have to select the mistake
Natives should be C1 - C2 😭
but like préférât should be accompagnied by elle repartît 😭
b2 was the highest anyone could reach in the test
like i really dont get the sentence it feels like every tense is wrongly used im so confused
ill keep du bc its obviously du
mais j'en pense pas moins hein 😭
ok this is definitely not written by a native though
wth does their sentence mean otherwise
bruh they be testing my english now eeeeeee 😭
They're not like a quiz, but a pdf with questions
And then a separate pdf with answers
idk what the official ones are, i searched for "french test fluency" and tried the first 3 results

あの celui-là là-bas, celle(s)-là là-bas, ceux-là là-bas
あれ ça là-bas
is this right
Spanish in my middle school : 2 groups of 20 doing German against 5 classes and a 6th group of 30 doing Spanish
And I did Latin for 6 years. I almost dropped Latin when going to high school, but was convinced to stay in Latin. Best choice of high school
(Additionally, I got 21 extra points for the baccalauréat, though I didn't need them)
Simply thanks to the teachers, and that's it.
But we were not that many (10 in first year, 7 in second year, 6 in third year)
i got cinema and italian instead, best choices of my life fr
There was Italian in my high school
I went once to one of their classes due to me having more than enough time.
20+ points for full mark in cinema and +9 bonus points with spanish (because i switched italian and spanish at last second, still got 18 in italian
)
French person picking cinema go figure
They were talking about ||Mussolini and fascism||
yea theres a whole chapter on this
There also were music and sports as other options
sorry was a joke about how French cinema is perceived as artsy here, the cannes film festival etc.
music? thats interesting
aaaaah wwww it is it is
Sadly couldn't go at one of their lessons due to me unable to play an instrument
half of french cinema are super funny the other half is like wannabe poetic boring stuff
lol
even not the flute?
Ah...
and lots of people are learning french so any message is a good immersion
Lol, okay, je note xD
I took one of these kinda tests for English
It gave me C1
Which I'll take but honestly it felt weird
Like they used tenses I personally wouldn't use or I just chose ones I would actually say irl
But I'm sure it was looking for its prescriptivist grammar rules
fr fr
This changes based on the culture actually!
1st floor in English is second floor in Japanese
Depends on the dialect
UK English says ground floor for what the US would consider the first floor.
Here when we say ground floor we mean the first floor
My head spin 😵💫
But cool
My English is crap, I’ve been using it for 10 years and yet still … it’s a catastrophe
yeah ... floors are really weird for whatever reason
in japanese, it's B1 →1階, no ground floor
Noooo, don’t spoil it for me, I want to go to japan and ride the elevators for hours trying to find my floor
You will despite knowing this, dw
Some elevators connect floor 1 to floor 3 and skip floor 2, etc
It's complicated enough
There are also half floors
Do they actually skip the “death sounding” floors?
We sometimes do the same with the 13th floor
Uhhh not in modern buildings in my experience
But some older buildings do
Or they make the 4th floor the storage, so no clients go there
Damn superstitions sure have a lot of power
Had*

Like malls or my uni etc have the 4th floor
But some old old hotels or hospitals sometimes don't
Although tbf, I heard it was more powerful in China
Like in Japanese 4階 is read as よん
So it takes away from the magic
But also 4月(しがつ) is the month when new things start etc , so generally a happy month 💀
Isn't that the month that one person lied or sumn idk I never watched that anime
Oh wait no that's a lie I did I forgot
I just didn't like the second season
Too bad the show wasn't named your lie in august
What are the half floors about
yes, it is a good anime , go watch it

it's slice of life, so it's japanese practice
I can't watch it anymore
restrooms are often on a half floor... like you know how staircases have 2 sets?
toilets are often on the mini floor in between
well often... it's not super rare*
But when I can I probably will who knows
I was into it when I was into classical music and piano/violin
bro i know nothing about music but it was a good drama
Very good instrument playing animation
it's originally a manga, irrc, so the music is not even the main 魅力

Merci madame Nina
