Any idea about how to defeat Loptars to get loot from them? I chased them, shot them with cannons, and was always nearby, but a message appeared saying they swam away and they vanished.

Just keep chasing and shooting as far as I'm aware. Only seen the event 1 in 4 years of playing. @fossil pasture You know about the sailing stuff more.

Lopters can be easily farmed unless something happened with Dr/ap changes. They always go away you don't traditionally kill-kill them but you should get loot regardless
