From the Windows Start Menu, search for cmd (Press windows key, and type cmd).
-
A result called Command Prompt (may be called differently in other languages) will show up.
-
Right click on Command Prompt and click Run as Administrator.
-
When asked whether to allow Command Prompt ot make changes to your computer, click Yes.
-
In the console, type the following command:
ipconfig /flushdns. If successful, you should see the following message. -
Use the command:
ipconfig /release(This will disable your internet connection temporarily) -
Important: Use the following command to re-enable your internet:
ipconfig /renewand let it fully complete. -
You may now close the command window, and attempt to connect to the game again.
If you are trying to log in to the game, and you get the error "failed to connect", this may be due to bad firewall settings. One of the possible fixes is the following:
Windows Defender (Setting Firewall Exceptions)
- Open the windows Start menu, and type 'Firewall'.
- Open the entry for "Windows Defender Firewall" as Administrator.
- Click on 'Allow an App or Feature through Windows defender firewall'.
- Look for an entry for Black Desert Online, make sure that both checkboxes are ticked.
- Make sure this is also true for both blackdesertonline64.exe, as well as the Black Desert Online Launcher.
- If either of this is missing, add a new rule for this file by clicking on the "allow another app" button.
- If neither of the files are listed, you can click the “Allow another app…” button to add it.
- For steam players, you can find the files under Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Black Desert Online
- For website account players, you can find the files under Program Files (x86)\Black Desert Online
Note:
- Afterwards you will need to restart the PC and allow a bit of time for the network rules to propagate.

If the simple exceptions failed, you can also try setting some advanced settings in the firewall.
Windows Defender (Setting Advanced Exceptions)
- Press start and type 'Firewall'.
- Then right click the "Advanced Security" one and open as Administrator.
- Click 'Outbound Rules'.
- Click 'New Rule'.
- Leave it at default "Program" and click next.
- From here, you'll need to search for the Launcher and blackdesertonline64.exe.
- For steam players, you can find the files under Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Black Desert Online
- For website account players, you can find the files under Program Files (x86)\Black Desert Online
- Click Next.
- Choose "allow connection" in the next window.
- Click the "Protocols and Ports" tab.
- Make sure that all ports are enabled.
- Click ok.
- You will need to repeat this step a total of 4 times, as you need to do it for both the blackdesertonline64.exe, as well as the launcher.
- Also, you have to do it for both Incoming and Outgoing connections.```
