#Unable to switch graphics card
71 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hi there, are you on Windows 10 or 11?
10
You may force any program to unconditionally use the GPU using Windows 10 Settings:
- Run Settings > System > Display
- Click "Graphics settings"
- Click the drop-down menu and select BDO, or click "Browse" to navigate to its .exe file
- Click "Options"
- Choose "High performance" and press "Save".
Did you do that already?
One moment
Additionally just to check; you are taking your monitor output from your GPU ports; not your motherboard? (It's an easy mistake to make)
Explain a bit
So, on the back of your PC you have the ports (holes) you connect your monitor with, using your HDMI/Display Port/other cables
Yes, i use HDMI
Some of those ports are connected to your motherboard, not your GPU
Gimme a sec I'll find a picture or similar
Okay, I forgot to mention that I have the monitor connected to a laptop
Ah, that might complicate things
As is to be expected
Did you have any luck with Mina's fix?
Currently testing it
Kk; I also found this in case it doesn't work for you

Sounds like the switching isn't working with the current installation. Go into the BIOS and change the video card to dedicated.
Can I just ask what is BIOS?
BIOS is your PCs basic "settings menu"; even before getting to windows or similar. And I should probably add that if you're completely unfamiliar with it, you should take caution when making any changes to it (and probably check a quick guide on how it works/how to enter it)
With some common sense it's quite harmless; but don't "rush" into it and start slamming buttons :P
Yeah, I am no where near experienced enough to screw with that....
Mmh, try the fix Mina sent for sure; it's the same principle, just doing it in the bios is more "forceful?"
I'd offer to walk you through it on voice or similar but I kinda have to run off sorry. Maybe someone else can though
I tried the fix and it didn't work much....
.<
Well, there's some guides online and I'd assume on YT to; https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-do-i-select-which-gpu-to-use-as-the-default-in/6c1c37df-5f83-4722-803c-d59e3f8d0bfb
Are you certain it is using the integrated graphics card?
How are you checking that?
Well, I check the settings when I open up the launcher before it logs in
Plus my game is too laggy to be going at 120 fps
on my notebook
The settings claim so
So for some rason as soon as I pressed F12 the FPS dropped but I did see 123 for a moment. However, since I need to clean the PC a little, this is what I average
And this is when I am in windowed mode on the 4k monitor
And this is what it looks like after I press "Start"
This is on Laptop
Ah its the start screen
yea sure you can get high FPS there
please check when youre in game
In game I can't open settings FSR
what
When I spawn into the world and hit escape, it sends me to server selection
And I don't know why
Oh I would love to, but the game responds 10% of the time, if it feels like it

Change graphic settings like this
very high is likely too difficult for a RTX 2070 laptop
Doesn't change much, I just completed the tutorial, gimmie a moment
Oh wait, I think I see an improvement....
Yeah, It worked, thanks for the help

Sorry you had to put up with my stupidity, thanks again
No worries, game optimisation is a big part of this
Now the game is lying on how low my frames are XD

It says 19 fps yet feels like 40 or more (Big monitor)
damn 19 FPS is super low though
can you open task manager and then expand it to the big version
Then click on the upper row and make sure you have "GPU" and "GPU Engine" enabled
That one will tell you which graphics card the game is using
send a screenshot if you did that so i can see too pls
