No reason to go to a great stem school but do the wrong major
also MechE is a lot less sought after than CS/CE
Sounds to me like you’re risking everything at CMU for a very marginal gain. I second the Vandy suggestion ^
I would actually argue Carnegie, the engineering program is stronger and you’ll have more resources/opportunities there

the major matters more than school name
Vanderbilt. Don't study something you don't like just because of the school name.

no, because school name won't matter at all for Mech E
same with ECE
I think these will mainly land office jobs which do not care about which school you came from. It is really just about ability to do the job
