hey, i got an offer from both for astrophysics and i’m having a hard time deciding so i would really appreciate any advice.

UofT-St.George
PROS:

  • domestic tuition + $3000 scholarship
  • better career prospects being in north america
  • flexible program
  • i got into victoria college which i’ve heard a lot of good things about
    CONS:
  • a lot of people from my highschool is going there
  • bad weather
  • london > toronto (location wise)
  • school culture & reputation: bad mental health, toxic, grade deflation

KCL
PROS:

  • it’s in london, a big dream of mine to study there
  • 3 years for bachelors +1 year for masters
  • adventure & discomfort
  • weather: i like the rain
    CONS:
  • international tuition
  • questionable career prospects (both ranking & opportunity wise)

OVERALL CONSIDERATIONS

  • how much does ranking/being in north america matter for a specialized field like this where i will eventually need grad school?

  • there are year abroad experiences @ uoft, but none for physics in london

  • is choosing KCL for the sake of london unjustified?

thanks in advance for any advice :) i’m really caught up in my own head.
