Intended major: Business!!!!!!!!!
University of Michigan (Ross)
UMich Pros:
- Ann Arbor is a decently vibrant city with lots of stuff to do
- nightlife seems pretty great
- Football games + student life seems to be great
- Great business school
- Great campus
UMich Cons
- The school is really big like twice the size of Cornell (less personable experience?)
- Huge party school… I'm more into the smaller 10-20 ppl parties w friends
- Ross school is pretty big
Cornell University (Dyson)
Cornell Pros:
- Rural: Pro in the sense that I’ll never really experience this again since I’ll likely be working in a city for a while and then move to a suburb… I don’t think I’ll ever be in a rural environment post-college, so I want to experience it with the opportunity I have at Cornell
- Also a great business school (ranked a little below UMich, but pretty much equal)
- BEST campus ever
- not too big and not too small
- Dyson is small: just 175-200 students in Dyson per grade. Close-knit environment!!
- Accepted as a Meinig Scholar? (only 40-50 people are selected and it creates a new, small community for me to get close to!)
- Lots of small-group partying ( i prefer this)
Cornell Cons:
- Rural (ik i said this was a pro but hear me out): Con in the sense that I might get bored? Maybe I won't get bored because of all the outdoor stuff to do (hiking, trails, skiing/other winter sports, etc.)
- From what I’ve seen (job placement + salary averages): Cornell is a little worse than UMich for consulting jobs, but only by a little
- not as great nightlife I think? at least not as good as umich
Other things to consider:
- Cost for both schools are very similar, so it’s not a factor
- Also got into UNC and Vanderbilt, but idk if those two are comparable to Cornell/UMich for business
- I plan to get an MBA one day, and I dont know if graduate business schools prefer ross over dyson or the other way around

As for partying, if you just want to have fun with your friends then really you can do that anywhere
. I have not actually gone to any large frat parties but most of the parties I have gone to are very reasonable in size and is with a small group. As for consulting placement I wouldnt worry about it too much, both b-schools are really good and you cant go wrong with either. The connections and resources are there and its really up to you to utilize them.
