Schools: University of Arizona vs. Union
Intended major: Physics, minor in Chinese or Linguistics
Similarities: overall good academics, would be pretty far from home for both
Union College
Pros:
- great academics
- location sorta (town is pretty small, but I’ve always wanted to go to the east coast for college)
- Small size/community
- close friends nearby
- I’ve been aiming for a smaller liberal arts college, so this definitely fits the bill
Cons:
- expensive (while not a complete deal breaker, cost is definitely the biggest issue)
- I’ve heard it can be a bit snobby/cliquish
- fraternities and sororities are apparently pretty big, which really isn’t my thing
University of Arizona
Pros:
- accepted into the honors college, which has lots of benefits (priority class registration, research/internship access, study abroad, etc.)
- more resources/opportunities
- much cheaper
Cons:
- location and weather, really not fond of the heat or thrilled with overall location
- I’m pretty introverted and never really wanted to go to a large school, concerned I would feel overwhelmed
Tie-breaking Considerations
- research/work internship opportunities at Union?
- neither of these schools were ones that I had considered extensively in the past so any insights would be great!
